Hard reset

What information do you lose when performing a hard reset? Will a simple sync operation restore whaterver data has been lost?

A hard reset will make the Axim lose *everything* except the operating system itself. All of your data will be gone, and all of your programs will be gone. A simple sync will bring all of your data back, but you'll have to reinstall all of your software.

Thanks for the info Osiris. I read somewhere about performing some sort of backup. Would this allow you to restore your installed programs as well as your data?

A restore will return everything to the way it was when you made the backup, even problems if they were present at the time.
After a hard reset, when you dock the unit Active Sync will ask if you want to use the old partnership, but sign on as a guest. Then restore, and everything will be copied in. After that process, it will ask if you want to sync all your old files, and tell it to replace everything on the Axim with the PC versions.
