I am considering the purchase of a pocket pc, and am thinking about ordering the Axim X5. I know it will take forever to get here. I would like others opinions, is Dell the way to go, or are the other pocket pc's better? All feedback appreciated.

I was asking that question a few weeks ago.
After doing the research. you just can't beat the price for what features you get.
So order your Axim and don't take as long as I did to order it. (I ordered mine yesterday)

If you need instant gradification, the Axim probably isn't the best choice. Seems like some people can't sleep at night waiting for them. If you can wait, the Axim is about the best value out there.

Get the Axim. I only ordered mine today after about a month of solid researching for Pocket PC machines.
I seriously considered an Ipaq looking at both the 3900 series and the 5450/5. They are far more expensive but I was prepared to pay the extra, especially as the 5450 comes with integrated blooth and Wi-Fi. However, neither have a CompactFlash slot, neither have a removable battery (big big plus for the Axim), both have reportedly great screens although delving deeper you see this is at the expense of battery life.
Looking at CNet you'll notice the Axim has a 20% negativity rating and over 90% of those are concerning the lead time and support, NOT about the Axim itself!! :) On that note I've read that part of the reason for the long delivery time is that Dell are choosy about the supplier. The Ipaqs have a far higher negativity rating, 28% and 46%.
Some people complain that you don't get the same bundle of software with the Dell Axim that you do with others. From my perspective this was an excellent decision by Dell as it obviously lowers the cost of the unit and we can use the money we save to buy the software that we actually want.
I know when I order a PC or such gadget, the waiting for it is the worst part... but then I think in six months time I would have forgotten how long it took to arrive! It's worth the wait... go for it!

I have used my friends Palms and an HP pocket PC (don't remember the number), I can easily say that of all them, my Dell Axim is my favorite. But as previously said, they do take a while to get. It you can stand to wait a few weeks, go with the Axim.

2 STRONG WORDS...
GET IT
:)
I did about a month or more research my self over a lot of them including some of the more $$ ones. and this seems to be the better one by a lot of reviews for the $
I hear a lot of horrer stories about ordering but i thought mine took a long time to get here 10 days... :)
I could not be happier... well if it was free i guess, and came with a hot woman :P

Yup, the Axim is the way to go. What other advise did you expect to get on an Axim forum?
