Hi All
I have an Axim, with a wireless card and a wireless router in my house. Using my Axim, I can see via the wireless network, my laptop which runs Windows ME.. I can see my desktop (Win 2000) which is connected to the router via ethernet cable. I can see my Mac Laptop (OSX) via ethernet cable to router. All these computers can see eachother. My question is, how do I get these other computers to see my Axim (wirelessly) without having it sitting in the cradle? Is there some way to put user names/passwords/permissions into the Axim to give the network acess to it's hard drive and SD card?
Thanks all :) I think this forum is soo informative!

You could use Microsoft's Remote Display Control to control you Axim and access its files from a host.

After much experimenting, I have found that wirelessly, I can connect to the Axim and see folders etc. even while not connected after syncing. I have to try this out with another computer though, via ethernet. I finally figured out a syncing issue I'd had too. PcCillin has a firewall. When you exit the program from the system tray in windows, it doesn't shut down the firewall. Sooo when I went into the actual setting of PcCillin, and disabled the firewall, I could sync wirelessly. Seems all this stuff just takes time and experimenting to figure out. God knows the book that came with the Axim is pretty much useless. :(

Do you mean that from one of the other networked PC's you could browse the files and folders on the Axim without being connected via ActiveSync? Please inform us of this. I have not found any way yet to make the Axim's contents sharable over the network.

I just rechecked this. You are correct. I have to activesync first. Then while still connected I can wirelessly browse the Axim. But, from the axim, even without syncing, I can see the network.
I have a couple laptops which I will hook up this evening and check to see if once I've synced to the desktop computer, can other computers see the Axims files. Is the Axim shared over the network or is it just the synced computer who can get acess to it's files?
I have a question. From my Axim, I can see my desktop's printer, is there any way to print to it? Is it just a matter of software?

Hi,
I doubt that you'll be able to print from a wireless network from the AXIM, as a printer driver maybe needed for the AXIM. In any case, it's worth checking up on .. I shall let you know what I find.
If you do a lot of wireless networking (or networking of any kind), check out these two apps:
PocketLAN:

vxUtil:

Cheers,
Sabesh.

I print wirelessly a lot, both at work and at home. I installed the HP Mobile Printing utility and it has drivers for a variety of printers. It works great.
