How do get documents created on axim to work in word?

Here is my problem. When i create a document on my handheld and then save transfer it from my handheld to computers at school, it cant read the .psw format and gives it in some crazy code. The words are still there, but the format is all messed up. Anyways, how can the IT department fix this? Is there some sort of patch for this besides activesync? Isnt it activesync that enables this in the first place in word? Thanks...

Open the file on your Axim in PWord. From the menu, tap Tools then "Save Document As..." In the Type drop-down box, choose Word 97/2000 Document.

The new file will be 100% compatible with MS Word for the PC.

Just remember that certain formating such as tables are not available in Pocket Word.

Apparently this is because the PPC Operating system doesn't support OLE (which Word does).

If you move a heavily formatted Word file over to the Axim, tables, headers images, most fonts will be stripped out. Justification, bold, underline, italic and bullets/numbering will come over however.

If you want a more robust program get TextMaker. Recently it was on sale for $11.11 instead of its usual $50. I bought and have been very impressed.

THis should take care of your problem. Did your file have a lot of tables and such in it?

No, my texts are VERY basic and it still screws up. I will try the drop down menu. However, is there a download that my computer lab could put on all their computers so other students dont have to mess with changing the .psw format?

Sorry, to come off this way, but your IT staff is probably very busy, and they don't need users creating more work for them. Furthermore, why would you want them to trust a 3rd party application that may fix your problem but mess up their network? Networks can be very stable provided 3rd party application are solid and kept to a minimum. It's really not that much more work (for you) than saving the original file.

True, its not a lot of work for me but it is for an IT with 30,000 students who use the computers daily. There are a lot of pocket pcs around our campus. Plus they seem interested in fixing the problem, so why not find them a solution? Anyone found anything yet?

if windows XP thinks .psw files are password files--which are probably not easy to open directly no matter what--wouldn't there be a bit of a conflict between the safety of real .psw files and PWord documents?

and why don't you just save in Word97/2000 format (using the PWord menu)? I work on documents on my axim and on my school's computer lab PCs all the time and this format works perfectly in making the documents accessible to both.
