I have had it happen a couple times, and I can't figure out the reason. I have heard that it is supposed to come on at midnight to refresh the days appts., and stuff. But it hasn't always come on at midnight. I really don't know why.

Is it coming on like while it is just sitting around, or is it coming on in your pocket or when you carry it? If its coming on in your pocket then it could be because you have it set to allow the application buttons to turn it on, or have it set so a screen tap can turn it on. If its just coming on while sitting around doing nothing, then I dont know what to tell you.

refresh @ midnight...
Hey I have noticed that the 'ol Ax comes on at midnight (sometimes) but not always??? My app buttons are set not to turn on my Ax so that's not the problem... Somebody should know what's going on here... Maybe I should upgrade to windows 2003? Will it still turn on for no reason with this o/s?
Cheers, Dave

My Axim comes on intermittently as well. I haven't figured out why yet.
I recently did a hard reset and updated my ROM to A04 PPC 2002 and this is when I started noticing the problem.
My Axim is usually sitting on my desk right in front of me so I know it isn't getting a button pushed. It comes on for about 3 seconds and then turns off, and it does this several times throughout the day.
Wha't seven odder is that when it comes on, if I try and interact with it by tapping the screen it will let me, but it still shuts itself off about a couple seconds.

Dell electrical gremlins
Well I noticed before I upgraded my rom that it did the on/off thing when it felt like it... My complaint is that it drains my batt life without me even using the dam thing! other than that I luv my Ax! Just wish I knew why...

Do any of you know if ActiveSync was running in the background? When this happened to me I noticed ActiveSync running.
Now, I have the settings set for manual sync rather than on a schedule. I'm also in the habit of terminating ActiveSync before I turn off my Axim. I haven't had the problem since.

Losing data when my X5 is off.....
Mine doesn't turn on, but one morning I turned on my X5, and all my data (appts, tasks, notes, etc) had all been erased. I had to go through all the 'aligning the screen' stuff you have to do when it's new.
I checked the battery status and it was at 86% which where it had been when I shut it off the previous evening, but everything disappeared. It was just sitting on my desk......
I got most of it back when I synched, but does anyone have any ideas?

I don't think it's activesync. I made sure it wasn't running in the background and it still came on.

Nothing to do with Active Sync. I made sure I turned it off also 3 min. later the dam thang turned on all by itself again... I have no idea what to do or why this is happening....
