I have several Lexars with which I am very happy. I have also heard good things about Viking, though; probably that is a choice you can make on price.

I have not experienced notably different rates in different types of cards.

I have Viking, Lexar, and Simple Tech cards....all are good.
SanDisk I wouldn't go near just because a lot of people have had problems using them with the Axim.....I'm sure they are not bad cards for other devices but, they just don't seem to work well with the AX.

I have used Sandisk CF, Lexar SD and Viking CF. I had a problem with my Viking CF card and they were very good about replacing it. My Lexar card had the same problem that everyone here is refering to and they replaced it with the one made in Japan and it has not been a problem since. I have run all the happycheesecake tests and it passed with flying colors. It was a lexar card but it was the same bunch that Sandisk made that had a problem. I would recommend the Sandisk at this time since they have fixed the problem and as far as I have read here they are now stable.

Sandisk has not fixed all of the issues with the Axim. I bought and returned a sandisk 512mb CF card just a few days ago.

I've found that when trying to play Windows Media files on the Axim from a Sandisk CF card the movie skips then crashes. These same movies run perfectly on my AVL and Viking CF cards. This was tested on both a 256mb and a 512mb sandisk card, both skipped and crashed.

I use Lexar SD and Kingston CF currently and I'm quite satisfied with both. Heard quite a few not so good things about Sandisk and Dell and decided to stay away from it.
