I have heard a lot of people talking up that keybaord that is cordless, instead of the Dell keyboard. My question is, why would I want that cordless keybaord. The Dell keyboard is technically cordless too, and when I attach my Axim, I will have only one unit infront of me instead of two separate units. Also, it seems that the cordless keybaord will inevitably have some connection problems. I do know that the cordless is cheaper...but is it really worth the potential hassels that I see?

I think one advantage of the cordless keyboard is that it is not Axim specific. If you switch to a different PDA, or perhaps even a different model of Axim, it will still be usable.

I imagine that there may also be some difference between the feel of the keyboard. I think that the PocketOp feels a lot better than the other portable keyboards I have typed on, although I have not used the Dell so I cannot comment on it specifically.

I neither have used the Dell keyboard so cannot comment on that specifically although I used to have a Palm Vx with an (attachable, not cordless) keyboard which I used heavily for notes during meetings etc. If that keyboard happened to be cordless the Palm would still have to have been the same distance from me as the screen on PDAs does not allow for you to put it across the room so I wouldn't have had any advantage.

The only advantage I could see is cordless k/boards have there own power supply (battery) so do not drain the PDA's power. But other than that (and even then I don't think it's signifcant) I don't know what the point is. With a desktop PC, a cordless k/board allows you to sit back in your recliner chair and relax, and work with the k/board on your lap... with a PDA and cordless k/board, you can't sit back as
a. you wouldn't be able to see the text and
b. it may not work anyway as it'll be too far away.

That's my contribution so I don't think I'll be getting one for those reasons... having said that, each to their own and some people obviously love them so everyone's happy! :D

I just recieved my Micro Innovations cordless--same as pocketop but different logo. --Luv it. I think its better because:

(1) Doesn't drain power supply--The Dell one I've heard has a power cord you can use if you don't want to drain your battery.

(2) It's cordless and doesn't drain your powersupply.

(3) It looks cool. (4) I got mine on e-bay for $45 shipped! alot better than $100.

*** but most of all I can type in Landscape mode. I don't think you can do that with the Dell. It rocks! For $50++ cheaper, you can by a real cool case.

If you do by the Micro Innov... one do not use the driver disk. go to the Pocketop website and download their driver--which includes a software that will allow for landscape mode
