Is your Journal bar reloading?? - Page 2

Journal Bar is also working fine for me. The only thing I've noticed is the weather for my secondary city (Montréal) is only coming up for 2 days out. Otherwise I'm getting US, Canadian and International news, movies times, TV schedule, stock quotes etc. all updated several times a day.

i purchased my journaL BAR from handango.com and never received an email regarding the purchasing of the software because my email wasnt working at that time. so what do I do and how do I get the upgrade?? And I asked before but wasnt answered...how do I access the settings for journal bar???

HackMeNot; If you bought from Handango, as I did, then they sent you a confirmation email. In that email they put instructions from OmegaOne on things you might need to know, such as if there was a registration key needed. There was also a link in that email, if you had to download again. Did you keep this email?
BTW, I did answer your settings question. Look in the middle of page 1.

I use netscape and ever since I installed this pocketPC software my email has been working and sometimes not working so I did not receive the email from handango, What should I do?

I purchased my copy from Handango and I retried the site last nite, and they still only have the 1.1 version. Mine seems to be working every so often. The weather works fine, its the others that don't always work.

Also, if you did order from Handango, if you go to the previous order shortcut, put in your email, and the last 4 of your credit card that you used, it will show you all the items you have purchased.

I think the version I'm using is making my axim soft reset itself while in the cradle, its annoying as hell. The reason is because I also have version 1.1 and it dosent update the weather right, but I don't have the most current version

I think the newest version is 1.1.2? Is this right? if so, then handango just doesn't display the last part of the version number. I too have had problems and the Omegaone rep. said they have uploaded the most recent version to handango and to redownload. This all occured in the last week, particularly last weekend, the 8th and 9th. Mine seems to be working pretty good now. Only time will tell though.

I did receive a response from Omega One and their fix was as stated earlier. Here it is;

'Thank you for your email. We have recently released a revision to Journal Bar which may help if you do not already have it (version 1.1.2). You can download it directly from your email receipt (the same link you downloaded the original version from). You can check which version you have by launching Jrnlol.exe on the desktop pc again (1.1.2 clearly states the version, 1.1.1 may not state it).

In any case we would suggest that you uninstall the current version following the instructions in help and reinstall or install the update. Please ensure you delete your user settings when prompted. If you are still having problems you could also try a soft reset, this can prompt the device to update.'

I checked and I am running 1.1.2 and it is working.

I was experiencing problems a few days after I purchased it (not updating anything) and discovered the updates. I was running 1.0 - and went to 1.1 (couldn't get 1.1.2 at the time, though I knew it was available). Anyway - I've been up and running since, no problems. No thing I noticed right away during the install of 1.1 - it asked for country and shows the country behind the city and state on the weather tab. If yours doesn't have the country listed, you should probably update.

I think I have 1.1.2 now but I cant really tell, the file says its version 1.1 but I got the most recent version on pocket gear so I figure its 1.1.2 anyway I still have problems with the weather, there is no "extended" info in the grayed out area like in v1.0 also the weather seems inconsistient with the actualy weather, espeically when I compare it to the weather forcast on the weather channel website.

Other then that the device isn't constantly resetting itself in the cradle for no reason anymore, however I noticed now when I do a soft reset it takes about 30-60 seconds to load up, I have no idea why, there isnt much in the startup folder, the wait time seems to eb increasign alot.

I think i have figured out something on this problem. I have noticed that when i have the problems of it not updating the weather is when i sync up without turning on the axim first(letting it turn itself on). But when i turn it on first it seems to update just fine. Maybe the Ax needs that time to get fully awake before the sync. I noticed that the weather will update at times when the Ax is still synchronizing.

Solution??= Turn on the Ax before synching so it will not be waking up and miss the instructions to update the weather.
Must be a night Ax, doesn't like to be woken up.:D

How does that sound? Anybody have any evidence to back me up on this?

I'm on a trial of JB and it quit updating a few hours after installation. A soft reset fixed the updating and then it stopped again after an hour. For the last 20 hours, the weather has always been updating but nothing else. The icon keeps blinking. If I click on any of my stocks, it brings up pIE and current quote, but no screen updates of news, stocks, etc. A soft reset does not update even though I click on the icon and it continually blinks but never updates. Today I synced it but no go, a soft reset got it working. I've tried both checking/unchecking Sync when first docked. Since I'm on wifi, I never dock in cradle. Is it this unreliable?

I purchased the JB program and have no problems.
Make sure you have a conection to the internet through your PPC. Do this by opening PIE and conect to a web site. If you get a warning message that you are unable to connect then you dont have a connection to the web. If you do have a connection you can force JB to update by tapping the section icon (the small icon located above the up down buttons on the left). If the section icon is blinking it is gathering data, somtimes it will continue to flash if it cant get the data. If you are not connected, it will flash and then stop.
Also make sure that the zip codes, city, or postal codes are good, some are not recognized and you may need to use a city near you for optimum info.

That's exactly what I have done and it just does not update. The icon always flashes. I do have continuous access to the net since my sync, pIE, and pOutlook (all done with the wifi card) works with no problems - I can surf, get email now with no problems, but I cannot get JB to update! Out of 5 soft resets, I manage to get it to update only 2 times after it came back up and it never updates again. Once it updated twice and never again. Argh.

update, version 1.1.3 is out now and it fixed my problem of not getting more detailed info on weather, etc.

go upgrade!
