Just thought you might help me out. My husband and I were discussing the reasons to get an Axim. He says that I don't need one and I say I do! :) So just to make him realize that I am right and he is wrong...will someone help me come up with the top 25 reasons to own and Axim.
Thanks,
Andrea
P.S. Please speak in Layman's terms...he's not a technologically advanced! :)
1. You'll be able to keep all appointments on time.
2. You'll have phone #'s and addresses handy at all times.
3. You won't forget HIS birthday (or anyone else's).
4. You can play awesome games (better not tell him this one).
5. You can check email and websites anywhere.
6. You can make your grocery shopping list and not forget any of
favorites.
7. You can better organize your time.
8. Keep track of finances w/ Pocket PC Money. (No more bounced
checks).
Ok, that's about all I can contribute for now. Hopefully someone else can come up w/ some more ideas.
I find your lack of faith disturbing. You underestimate the power of the Dork Side of the Force; my advice would be to simply buy the Axim and then use Force mind control tricks to persuade your husband to see things from your point of view.
Alternatively, you may tell him that a Pocket PC like the Axim is the best tool in the world for keeping a busy life organized. Whether you're chasing down the remnants of the Jedi Order or trying to retrieve wayward sons who have run off with the Rebel Alliance, the Axim is absolutely invaluable. "Electronic Rolodex" doesn't begin to describe this little jewel -- it's more along the lines of "Electronic Swiss Army Knife".
Sincerely,
Darth Viet, Dork Lord of the Sith
P.S.: You can use Force lightning to recharge the Axim's battery much more rapidly than the primitive charger device supplied by the manufacturer. Just be careful -- you could easily fry the circuits if you're not careful with the power, and dealing with Dell Customer Serice is something not even a Dork Lord takes lightly. Although they *have* gotten a lot better since I paid that little visit to their corporate headquarters. *chuckle* Oh, it's FUN to be evil!
What does he like? I always get in trouble with my girlfriend when I buy toys. I recently bought a Nokia 3650, and in order to convince her that it is "cool", I showed her features that she would be interested in. Like how she can take pictures with the phone, email people and send pictures as attachments, browse the web for news and horoscopes, etc. She would never buy that phone on her own, but now she accepts it because of its functions. She now can use it whenever she wants to. (Not my choice)
To convince him that YOU need it, you must convince him that HE needs it.
Is he the frugal type? (Is he cheap? :p) Show him that its on sale, and theres free shipping, and these prices won't last long... Show him how much cheaper it is than comparable models of different brands.
Does he like to surf the net? I moved up from a Palm IIIx so I had no idea that PPCs were even capable of connecting to the internet, among other things. Let him know it can be done! If you don't yet have a wireless LAN in your house, that will require separate convincing.
Maybe you could tell him that he could listen to music and watch movies on it. This would be a good arguement if you guys are on the road often. If not, then he would counter that with "but we can already listen/watch on our stereo/TV."
If he likes to read, the previous point can also be used with books/eBooks. Make sure you emphasize quantity as well as quality. "The screen is big and bright so you can read wherever you go. I couldn't do that on my old Palm. Plus, you can have literally hundreds of books on it!"
If all else fails you could always try Plan B: "Valentine's gift", "can I buy it then return it after we try it", "it's more efficient and easier to carry around than my appointment book and calendar and notepad", "I need it for work", "I've been saving up for it"...
These reasons are in no particular order. Determine what features he would like, them arrange them accordingly. I would put them in the order of: best feature, low price, 2nd best feature, and go from there. Don't go to Plan B unless you've exhausted the main points. All right, good luck!

Please explain the quoted points and provide links :)
And you will never be bored. :D If he is the type that does not like it when you talk alot, like my father and my ex-boyfriend, tell him it will keep you quiet. :) You can also read in bed without having to leave a light on.

You can get a GPS for it and NEVER be lost (and he never has to stop to ask directions!)
You can tune a guitar with it. (free software to do that)
Keep travel reservations, confirmation number, flight numbers, etc., for vacations.
Just tell him it will make you happy, and if you're happy he will be happy!
My husband didn't understand me wanting to get one either (he's an engineer, even!) and in the "new ownership" phase he was feeling kind of left out because my Axim was taking up all my free time. After I convinced him to set up a Wireless network in the house and he saw me surfing the net and checking email from my easy chair, did he finally see the light!!! Actually, he didn't care what it could or couldn't do, as long as it made me happy.:D
P.S. I really like reading e-books on it and I can read late at night without keeping him awake. Of course he probably wishes I wasn't reading..........

You can do your banking, read a book, play scrabble and hearts in bed, and rub his back at the same time. You can't do that while you knit! You also have every number and address so you never stress anymore when you forget these things. It's also fun.... and that's reason enough:D
