help with Internet Explorer on my X5

I can connect with my X5 to a DSL wireless router in my house using the TrueMobile 1180 flash card, and can surf the web using IE, but certain pages won't work right. For example, my university web-based email page won't let me in. Another example, expedia.com won't work. Do I need to upgrade the IE browser, or are there settings to change that I can't find? Can the X5 get full functionality out of all web pages? Thanks for helping this novice.

The PIE (pocket internet explorer) identifies itself at IE version 3. Some webpages check your browser version before allowing you on, such as Yahoo Mail, and require IE5 or above. Since PIE really isn't a desktop IE, you need to do a registry tweak to make it identify itself as version 5. You can do this using a program called Regking, which can be downloaded in the downloads section of the site. I hope that helps.

What specific error message are you getting? If you don't have the most current version of the ROM for 2002 there is a known bug that causes this to occur...

thanks

Thanks Smeg36, that KingReg download enabled me to reach sites like expedia.com that I couldn't before, however I still cannot get passed the pw-protected entry page of my university's web-based email site...but, we're making progress!

Quick Question. When I went to Regking's website, it said it didn't support Windows Mobile 2003 SE but I saw you have an x50v. Does it work on it (I just want to tweak the PIE registry)? Thanks!

Please upgrade your X5 to PPC2003, where Internet Explorer has an updated version, v4. Most pages should then work better. To find the upgrade though, you will have to search on the net or buy it off eBay. If you are not willing to go through a real OS upgrade, then buy a newer PDA.

You will find you cannot load many pages that require logins. That's because a lot of them use JavaScript for the logins... which isn't supported in PIE

Chris...

Thanks! I'm sorry to ask such a basic question but is there a way to add JavaScript to the PPC SE? Thanks!
