Problems with Internet Explorer

Often times when I am on the net, I will come to a site and it will partially load and then close my IE. It seems to be site with advertisements. Sometimes it is a site I have visited before and worked fine. For example, when I access my yahoo mail acct, I go to the log in page and put in my info. The it re-directs me to the mail page, loads partially, then closes. Another is the Cox cable home page. The first time I went there, it loaded fine, now everytime I go there it closes on me. Can anyone help me out? Thanks
