The ques. no one can answer

I have posted this question many times and many people have viewed it, but no one can seem to find an answer. So all you gurus, here it is. Sometimes when I am surfiing the net on my Ax5 on a wirless network, I will go to a website and it will just close IE. Often times it seems to be ones with animated advertisements. For example, when I log on to Yahoo mail, I get to the my mail site and then it goes off. What could the problem be? Thanks for any help provided.

Does it close IE or does it become minimized?

Remember that you are working with a windows product. What happens when you surf via your cable/cradle. If it works in a "wired" environment, could be your wireless signal gets dropped.

Have you did a soft reset just in case? You may also want to tweak your IE's registry to think that it is ver 5 instead of ppc version 3 or whatever it is set to. I have had no problems getting into my yahoo account.

I haven't tried it on the cradle yet. I don't think it's dropping the signal b/c the light on the card blinks when it is having trouble with the signal and I can surf for a very long time until I try to get to one of these pages, but after it closes I can open IE right back up (ofcoarse not on that page). I haven't messed with the registry, and I'm not really sure how to do that. i have done a soft reset and it didn't seem to work. Thanks for all the help

I have the exact same problem.. I suspect it might be the flash on the pages I'm trying to view but no answer as of yet.

Because Pocket IE does not support multiple windows or instances, I am wondering if it is a pop up that you would normall see on your desktop as a pop up (or pop under) that then closes itself - I have seen login screens that do that. It closes itself, expecting the original window to be open, but of course there is no original window.

I do not know for sure; it's just a guess...

Thanks for the input, but it's not the log in screen that is giving me the problem. After I log in and click the log in button, it directs me to the mail page. That is the page that will not come up. Here's another example, I went to www.cox.com (my cable provider). The first time I went there, the page opend up fine, I clicked on a link from that page, it went to the next page for a brief second and then IE closed. So I opened it back up tried to go back to www.cox.com and now the page loads half way and then IE closes. I don't know and I'm not about to call Dell.

Might be a javascript or something that PIE can't handle?

For Yahoo mail try http://home.mobile.yahoo.com/ instead.

I will give this a try myself later though and let you know if I figure something out.

THanks!! That link worked. I bet it is the javascript that is causing problems.

Well, FWIW, I could get to my Yahoo mail with WM2003 PIE just fine. So I'm not sure what is up with your PPC.

You're welcome on that link - I think it's one of the least known great small site links.
