After my Axim arrives, what should I do to it?
I ordered my X5 400MHz last night from Dell. After my Axim arrives, what should I do to it? Any patches from Dell, any software upgrades, settings or registry tweaks you suggest and why?
Thanks

My Axim shipped friday. I have some apps I'm going to load, but I am at work so I can't list them atm. Send me an email and I'll let you know what I'm doing, if that might help!

microsoft has 3.6 activesync whereas the disk has 3.5 other than that it is upto date and if your gonna update it do it before ya connect the thang. your PPC comes with a disk just make sure ya get all the software it provides some are links but most are still free and worth your time.
P.S. Thanks for all the spam grow up racer X

Just a little advice, eventhough the new ActiveSync is out, you'll need to install the one from the Companion CD first (version 3.5) before you can upgrade to the new ActiveSync.
How I know? I've tried installing the new ActiveSync (3.6) first, and it didn't work.

You also probably want to apply the D-Pad patch from Dell, so you'll be able to click with your d-pad.

there is no need to install Ascync 3.5 from the CD. you can install async 3.6 after downloading it but you'd need the USB drivers for the axim from the cd.
this is how i did it and did not have any problems at all.

that's exactly what I did.
1. Install ActiveSync 3.6 BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE. ( Just click cancel when it tries to set up the Partnership)
2. Connect the Axim to your USB Port, no matter what the manual says.
3. When the "Installing New Hardware Wizard" or whatever it's called pops up, point it to the root directory of the CD.
4. Now click on ActiveSync, if it hasn't already popped up on its own.
5. That's it. Now autorun the CD and click on the "Enhance" section to install software.
I did all this and had (still have) ZERO problems.
