Getting errors when copying music files to the Axim

I am trying to use the Media Player (ver.7.01) on my PC to copy files directly to the portable device and after it starts copying, I get an error message in the playlist window that says "An error occurred...the networkpath was not found". Anyone know what this means and how to correct it? I have checked the "digital recording" and "use error correction" boxes on the CD tab in the Tools/Option menu on my PC. I am using Win 98SE and I don't think I can upgrade past ver. 7.01 of WMP on my PC. The fact that I have the Portable Device tab on this version of WMP should allow me to copy files, right?

I'm using Win98SE and have WMP9.0 and it's working fine.

The only problem I've had loading files to "Portable Device" was a couple occassions where WMP didn't "see" the AX. I took it off the cradle, put it back on, let it reconnect, and then WMP see's it after that.

I've had similar trouble. I copy a song over, it appears in file explorer and the file is the right size. I can add it to a playlist but it just wont play. This doesn't happen with every song, only with a few but it's irritating. I want to listen to Matchbox 20's version of Time After Time

I just found what the problem was. In WMP on the PC, there are two locations to copy the files to the portable device. One is called by default "Pocket_PC" and the other one is "Built-in Storage". When I copied to the built-in storage, it worked. I guess it was the difference of copying the files to ROM or RAM, or vice versa.

What happens to me though is I may copy say, 5 songs. All to the SD card. And only one of those 5 wont work. It will play fine on the PC but I get the error message on the PPC.
