Can't Explore my Mobile Device
I am using an Axim X5 (using ROM A05), connecting to a PC using Windows XP Pro SP1a via the Dell cradle and Active Sync 3.7 (where the Axim has a full partnetship). When I click on Explore in ActiveSync or open My Computer and double click on Mobile Device no Windows Explorer window opens. If I right click on Mobile Device and select Explore, Windows Explorer opens to the Desktop, and if I try clicking on Mobile Device in that Window nothing happens (it just takes me back up to the Desktop listing in that window). I have tried connecting my Axim as a Guest on a different PC using AS 3.7 and Windows XP (not Pro), and it worked fine (I was able to browse my device by clicking Explore in AS or accessing it from Windows Explorer). Any suggestions on how to fix this? The account i am using on the XP Pro machine has administrator priveleges.

I had that problem (using XP home) and running ZoneAlarm. I had to change a setting on ZA to let A/S work properly. On another forum some time back, several others had the same issue resolved this way also. Good luck!

Thanks for the responce. I disabled the XP firewall (and am not running any other software ones -- just using the router's), but it's still not working. Do you happen to remember which forum the posts on this subject could be found? I am currently browsing through DAX5 General Discussion but haven't had much success.

I'm not sure, but the forum name was similar to this one. I'll post it if I find it.

I found the thread you were referring to: http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showt...veSync+Explore but still no luck. Like I said, I am not running Zone Alarm, and like the other poster, I am having trouble on an XP Pro machine (but it works fine on a different one on my network). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hey shdytxmn
I resolved the issue myself. I uninstalled Outlook 2002 and Activesync. Cleaned up all registry entries. Reinstalled Outlook 2000 and then installed ActiveSync 3.7.1.
Went to Explore the mobile device and it was still coming up empty. As a last resort, I went into my device manager and refreshed the USB drivers and bingo, it worked.

Thanks for the info, I don't know if I want to go through all the trouble of removing outlook, but it might come down to it.

Thanks for the input. I think I will start where you ended and see if that works.

I never did resolve this issue on my laptop, however I don't have Windows installed on that computer anymore. Unfortunately reinstalling ActiveStink didn't help when that computer was running Windows (I tried multiple versions and even went so far as to bust out regedit and remove any references).
