Mad Still not working...

So.. now I am getting a notification saying that it is connecting to eric, which at one point it was asking me for my Login and password and domain name. I typed all that in and saved it, but after I click Hide on the notification I get the following error:
VPN server problems. Please reconnect, and verify your username and password. If the problem continues, turn the device off and try again.

Am I getting closer or futher away?

-Eric

PS.
I have downloaded PocketDCHP, Pocket Hosts and vxIPConfig. I ran them but wasn't sure what I was supposed to do.

Eric,

I was able to duplicate your problem of no wireless activesync whatsoever, so I hope this will help.

I have Pocket Hosts installed on my Axim. You can get it free off the Handango site.

What this little jewel does is allow you to set up a Hosts table. All you need to know is your WinXP name and its static IP address. The name is what you see when you right click "My Computer" and look at Properties/Computer Name. Your static IP is what you see from the CMD prompt after typing IPCONFIG.

Now when you start Pocket Hosts, just enter that data, press "Add" and make sure the box is checked for this Host table entry.

I found that by unselecting the box, my Axim would refuse to sync at all just as you describe.

My original reason for installing Pocket Hosts was to be able to gain Remote Access of my WinXP box from the Axim. By doing this I was able to seamlessly print to my local USB printer.

Let us know how it goes.

Eric,

Use the Pocket Host application to assign your PC's IP address to the name of your PC.

If you don't know it you can get it off of your PC.

Start > Run> "cmd" (on the PC not the AXIM)

At the prompt type "ipconfig /all"

This will tell you your IP address and the name of your PC. Use that IP address along with the name of your PC (I'm assuming "eric" from your posts) in Pockethosts enter thise two values then press Add.

Also I find it easiest to use "work" settings for all my connections and unless you need to connect to a VPN server delete that entry from the work configuration. When I use work settings I make sure the Proxy setting that says " this network connects to the Internet" is checked. Then I can surf the net as well.

I got Wireless Activesync up ... finally

I finally got it working... after hours of screaming in frustration! LOL

I setup Internet Connection Sharing on the computer I use as my main one... I mention that because it sets a TCP/IP addy of 192.168.0.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 for my PC. To find out what your machine uses type ipconfig /all into a console box.

The trick is to go to connections on the Pocket PC (start then settings then connections).. then on your connection ensure that it says my network card connects to work, and work setting are set to work. The in your configuration set your primary WINS server to your computers TCP/IP addy... in my case 192.168.0.1 (I use a USB sat for my internet connect but the local intranet adapter is set to 192.168.0.1 which is the one the wireless adapter is going to see.....)

The trick was setting my card to WORK and entering my WINS server data....
Hope it helps!!!

Thanks so much

Hi Bob,

Just wanted to say thanks for your informative post...went into Settings, Connections, Work, and set the WINS to my desktop computer's IP address, and it worked like a charm.

I'm glad it worked... before I figured it out I had the horrible experience of having it work sometimes, partially and only being able to surf the internet... not all at the same time luckily. I ended up doing a lot of reading and online searching and once I figured out to have the card set to Work and the pc I am synching to as the Wins server I haven't had a bit of trouble and even had my wife's computer do it the first time and every time. My only glitch is that I use Outlook for email and MSN email requires you login. If I leave Outlook open I can synch repeatedly - but if it is closed then I have to go to my computer and click the login button for email before I can synch again.

Hello all, I just bought my axim I have the active sync working with the usb cable but when I try wifi it doesn't work. The axim makes ths conection to the pc and the pc's activesync window says connected and also guest. My PDA's active synce reads connecting and Pocket_pc as the connection. The PC at this point can see the axim and treats it like a gues. How do you set the wifi profile up so that it uses an existing profile? Thanks

Try this follow every step, it helped me with wifi sync:

Connect to ActiveSync using a network (Ethernet) card
With an Ethernet card for your device, you can connect to a LAN (local area network) on which you have an account. Connect using an Ethernet card when you have access to the LAN and you want to synchronize, copy, or move information while you are away from your desktop computer.

Before you begin

· Set up a partnership, between your device and desktop computer using a cable, cradle, or infrared connection.
· Purchase an NE2000-compatible Ethernet card.

To use a network (Ethernet) connection

<> Step 1 Enable a network (Ethernet) connection in ActiveSync
<> Step 2 Install an Ethernet card in your device
<> Step 3 Connect using a network (Ethernet) connection
