Weird behavior with CompactFlash and resetting

I have an Axim X5 300MHz. There is some weird behavior with it. First, the unit sometimes resets at the Today screen when I am touching the bar at the top. I have a "task manager" program that sometimes takes over that bar, so might that be it? Also, sometimes my Axim asks to format a 16MB Canon (some people say that Canon cards are made by SanDisk) CF card. It happened a couple of times after I resetted and I formatted both times it happened. But now it happened while I was trying to load a ROM in PocketGenesis (or whatever it is called.) I resetted and it saw the files on the card fine. Earlier when I had PocketGenesis on the CF card (it is now in main memory), it had some kind of error with the card while I was waiting for the rom to load. Is it the software in the Axim, or is it possible I have a defective Axim (probably not)/CF card? Thanx!

Did it tell you ... Memory card error ... Do you want to format this card?

i will second Mike C's advice - always choose no.

i had the same thing happen, where my unit asked about reformatting (happened twice). i took a gamble said no and did not lose info on cards (both sandisks cf/sd) all continue to work fine.
