Any hope for Sandisk SD card?

Hello All,

I purchased a Sandisk SD card about 6 months ago. I've had nothing but trouble with it since then, but recently I bought a CF card so I have no worrys about storage space for programs. I started using the SD card to store mp3s and then just put on the write protect lock to stop the FAT corruption from happening.

The problem is, just a few weeks ago I got the message on my Axim asking me to format the card. But when I accept the format message, the Axim tells me that the card can't be formatted. I've checked the read-only tab several times, and it's definately in the right position. I've written to Sandisk numerous times, filled out the form in the link on Happycheesecake's page and tried a few phone calls, with no success.

If I buy a sd card reader for my computer, will it still be able to read this card and make it usable again, or is this a lost cause?

Thanks for any input.

IIRC the problem is an Axim/SanDisk thing so a car reader should format it ok and outside the Axim it should work just fine.

SanDisk has been very good about replacing these cards under warranty -- I had two replaced that now work perfectly.

Look at HappyCheesecake's discussion here on Aximsite for more information.

I purchased my SanDisk 256 SD Card from Dell about a year ago and could never depend on it. I contacted SanDisk and they replaced it free of charge about two months ago.

I have had no problems with my Replacement SanDisk 256 SD Card and I can now use it without fear of losing everything on it. If anyone is having problems, I would suggest getting it replaced. It was well worth the six or seven days I had to live without it.

Hmm... I have been using a SanDisk 256 CF for over a year in my X5 with zero trouble.

Wrong memory type--SD is what's giving people all the trouble.

Some folks don't like Sandisk CF, either though....

Sandisk Cf cards are all I use for my cassiopeia, Axim and camera. NEVER have I had problems with them. They have always worked flawlessly. It is some software applications that I have used with the Axim that have caused me grief. I have heard several people having difficulty with their CF disks. They must be receiving defective cards, or I believe they are becoming corrupted. I use my 512 for mp3s, 256 for programs, 128 for pictures, and my 64 and 32mbs for business and personal files. I have even accidentally forgot to a 128mb and 64mb out of my pocket and they ended up getting washed! The only thing I lost was the paper label! :D
