Question File Explorer

I have Dell Axim5 using PPC2002. I have 2 software programs downloaded from Skyscape.com. They are medical reference books. They are on a storage card. I also have another Skyscape program downloaded on to Pda storage. In their instructions for uninstalling these programs they tell me to:
On your device go to file explorer
Change flolder from "my documents to My device"
tap on storage card.
My problem is when I attempt to change from My Documents to My Device, I get the following message:
"Unable to connect with current settings. To Change your
connection settings, tap settings.
How do I get "My Device" to come up so that I can uninstall these programs? I also am having trouble once I uninstall a program removing the icon from the "Program" screen on my Axim.
I am running ActiveSync 3.71, XP Home Edition.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to solve my problem? I am not real computer savy and would appreciate a step by step guide to fixing this problem. Thanks for the assistance.

Hi Thom
Not sure I completely understand what you are suggesting you are trying but...

To remove programs you can either do it on your PC via activesync > Tools > add/remove programmes (you need to have your ax connected when you do each of these steps)

Or you can just remove from your Ax by clicking on start>settings>system tab (bottom of screen)>remove programs - highlight the program you want to remove and click remove.

To remove shortcuts from the programs screen:-
Click start > programs > file explorer >click top left to select my device then in the window below click on windows > start menu > programs > then point and hold the stylus on the shortcut you want to delete and you will be able to select delete from the pop up menu

Hope this helps

Bernie_rubber:
My problem is that when I click on file explorer in the program screen and attempt to select my device is when I get the message: "unable to connect with current setting. To change your connection settings tap settings.
I have done both a soft and hard reset and I am still unable to call up "my device." So there is no way I can go on to try and delete the shortcut icon on the program screen
Do you have any ideas on how to solve this problem?
Thom

After reading Bernie_rubber's last post, I tried to figure out how to get "My Device" to come up. It kept showing same message about "unable to connect......" I did the following: start>Programs>Internet Explorer. On the bottom bar on Internet Explorer is a file folder icon. I tapped on this and a Favorite
screen appeared, listing the following: AvantGo Channels, Pocket PC Web Guide, PocketPC.com, and WindowsMedia.com. Below these were to un-readable files. I deleted these 2 files and VOLIA was able to open "My Device" and uninstall the 2 programs I wanted to get rid of.
Thanks for the help Bernie:

Yep. File Explorer is like a file browser program. :) Not a very good one, though.

Cross-posting is posting the same question more than once, or in multiple forums.

Worried

I realize that File Explorer and Internet Explorer are 2 different things, but for some unknown reason, the 2 corrupt files on the internet explorer "Favorites' page prevented me from opening
"My Device." Once I deleted them, I was able to open "My Device" and proceed with my "Uninstall". Don't ask me why or how they got there or why they were affecting my File Explorer. I have no idea. Maybe "the Shadow knows."
