What does everyone think of the transcriber method of input? I find it almost 100% accurate and my handwriting is not the best in the world.

I prefer it to the other methods. The only thing I don't like about it is that you need to bring up the puncuation window to type a return.

No, Herknav, you don't have to use the little pop-up punctuation window to do a return. The help screen that comes up when you first choose transcriber shows how to draw a return. I tried it and it works!

It's good for short entries like 'Get Milk after work', but for longer stuff it's too time consuming.

I used Transcriber to take meeting notes yesterday. For me, its a heck of a lot faster than pecking the virtual keyboard with the stylus. If you really want to get a lot of stuff put in fast use the add-on foldable keyboard.

HerkNav,

Like wtherrell said, the pop up window gives some quick tips. I had not been to keen on the transcriber because of the inaccuracy but last night I spent about 2 hours with it at work. I went to the Help area and got a LOT of tips and new info. After going through each letter in the section that lets you tell it how you write, I found my accuracy much better. Also, the tips I came across helped a great deal. As far as Return, you just draw a backwards L but the key is to make the lower leg at least twice as long as the upper section. It should do a return almost instantly.

Lower left hand corner. Fat black arrow, pointing up. Tap and it rotates. Tap again and it rotates again. The arrow points to the UP for the recognition. I have mine set at 45 degrees to left of Axim up, hold the Ax in my left hand and write diagonally. Lefties can reverse this orientation. Or you can go for the full landscape orientation, either left or right.

I enjoy it. I find that it almost always translates perfectly on the first try.

Has anyone found a Transcriber:Options sweetpoint?

Whereabouts do you have your sliders on the speed of recognition vs quality and recognition start time? I need to be able to make notes that I can at least understand when I read back. I dont have time to make corrections during note taking. What works best for you? I have carefully gone through the alphabet for the letter shape recognition. My f's were coming out as t's. :D

Thanx. :)

For those trying to make Transcriber more accurate, try clicking the lower case "a" on the Transcriber menu at the bottom---the one that looks kinda like it is written on children's writing paper.

You can go through all the letters and numbers and tell Transcriber whether you use the various styles "often," "rarely" or "never."

It's supposed to make the translation both quicker and more accurate.
