How to best baxkup Axim

I was wondering what is the best way to backup the data on the Axim. I tried the "backup data" app and one time it went fine (although I did not try to restore) but in later attempts the program went to 70% and quit with.....you guessed it "backup error".

I also notice you can back up to the PC from ActiveSync on the PC but it is VERY slow. I have a feeling the built in app is not the best one to use. Any suggestions...

Personally, I use the one on Active Sync to back up to my PC. It is slow the first time, but if you choose incremental, after the first back up, it will only back up anything new. That really cuts back on the time.

I only use the PC backup, and although it's inexplicably slow, it does work every time. I did a hard-reset/restore just for the heck of it and it did good. I was actually trying to answer a question about memory card treatment during a restore.

Be aware that if you hard-reset and then dock the unit, you must accept a guest partnership. As soon as it becomes stable, hit Tools\Restore and get ready to take a nap.
After the process, your old partnership will be restored and you'll be asked if you want to update the sync files. Make sure you tell it to replace the Axim files with the ones on the PC.

Some tips for backups:

Full backup is always the safest (ie: incremental backup may corrupt ur previous backup file); but if you want to avoid the sluggishness of a fullbackup but want the robustness, perform an incremental like Raynne has mentioned -- but keep a copy of the old backup and then increment on another copy for safety sake.

Also, if you have a NIC or WiFi setup use that instead of the USB cradle to perform the backup/restore, its blazingly fast.

Cheers.
