This has been asked before and I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but a search of the site may bring up something different.
The fact is, a PDA is designed to remind you about appointments. If it only works when it's turned on it wouldn't be any better than having appointment reminders on your PC that only work when you are at your desk. Having these reminders 'with me' was what sold me on the utility of the Axim shortly after getting it a year ago.

You can choose to set reminders such that there is no message displayed on the screen. Start - settings - personal - sounds and notifications - select the notification tab at the bottom of the screen - open the drop down menu at the top and choose reminders (the last one on my AX with PPC 2003). Uncheck the box that says "Display message on screen". Now your AX will not turn on when a calendar event comes due. Not positive but I beleive this also turns off task reminders.
This is hilarious. We have many, many folks complaining that their PocketPCs WON'T wakeup and sound the alarm no matter what they try (Microsoft is aware of the issue and is "working it") and here we have someone who wants to disable that feature.
That made my day! Trade your device with any of the folks who can't get the alamr to work on their device---I'll bet they'll love you for it.
I am aware that some folks are having trouble with the alarm feature not working (No chime and/or visual reminder.)
My situation was a little bit different. Whenever a visual reminder was activated on my AX it stayed on! (Even though it was set to shut off in 5 minutes when on battery.) I chose to not see or hear a reminder in lieu of draining the battery. For what it's worth my AX came with PPC 2003 preloaded.
To Remind or not Remind, that is the question? Sorry, sometimes a little levity calms the spirit.
My issue is the same as tbsteph. I occassionally set a reminder for the weekend and if I forget about it, I find on Monday that my battery is completely drained because the Axim never turned off.
My reminders stopped working and I am lost without it. I used it for things like when to turn in my time card! Without that i forget and then just try to get a paycheck.

But it is still very annoying not to have some control over this feature.
Example - I am at work on Friday, and a reminder pops up for something I need to do. But I decide to leave it until Monday (but I am still going to need reminding about it). The snooze options are limited! 8 hours, 1 day, 1 week. What about "next working day" or 2 days etc.? This means to keep the reminder active I have to choose "1 day". Then when I am at home over the weekend watching a film or listening to some music, the PDA wakes up with an alarm that I am not interested in.

Good Luck!!

I have had the same question. I'm glad u brought it up. I noticed that it will stay on, and when i check my battery power, sometimes it's super low because of the reminder. I wonder if there's any way to regulate how long we want the reminder to stay on, so that it won't suck up all of the battery juice.
