Mad email disappearing

Is email supposed to dissapear after syncing? The first week or so I had the Ax, email I deleted would show up in the deleted folder as well as sent items would show up in the sent folder etc, etc. Now, none of my email stays on the Ax after a sync, it all disappears, no email in any folder. Anyone know why this would happen? I haven't changed any settings that I know of so I don't have a clue whats going on. I have all boxes checked in Active Sync under sync options--->inbox--->settings. Thanks in advance for any help.

I am having the same problem.....I thought it might just be that it only shows you your email when you're actually connected to your computer but that would defeat the point. I am hoping that we will get some good feedback from this topic.

Since most of you aren't posting to this thread I assume that none of you are having this problem (and yes I know what assume means). Could you at least take a second to tell us how the inbox works on your Ax? Does your email stay on the device after you've performed a sync? For example, lets say you've read an email and deleted it; does it stay in the deleted folder? How long does it remain there? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Are you new to Outlook?

What settings are you using inside Outlook as mail server options?

Since I check my account from many places (work, home, axim, or whereever) I have my account set to keep a copy of the message on the server until deleted from the deleted items folder.

With those settings I have had no problems deleting something on the Ax and still having it show up on the desktop.

Give us more info about your settings plz....;)

I am slightly new to Outlook, but very familiar with Outlook Express. My settings show that option checked (keep copy on server) so I'm not sure what's going on. For me, it isn't just a matter of seeing deleted items from the desktop in my deleted items folder on my Axim, it's a matter of seeing ANY e-mail at all!

When I first set it all up, I saw e-mail in my Axim's inbox but now I don't get anything. I have Inbox checked in the ActiveSync settings.

Oh well, must be something I did if nobody else has this problem, I'll figure it out.....

Thanks for the post but I don't think it's a problem with outlook, of course I've been using microsoft outlook express before outlook so I am kinda new to outlook. When I delete an email off the Ax it is deleted off my pc and shows up in the deleted folder on the pc, which isn't the problem. The problem is that that same deleted email doesn't show up in the deleted file on the Ax. The way I understand it the Ax should hold the last 5 days of deleted email, saved email, inbox email etc, etc. Maybe I'm mistaken and it doesn't work that way, but I think it probably should b/c when I first got the Ax that was what was happening. Anyone any more suggestions?

Could be your ActiveSync settings.

In ActiveSync on the PC right click on Inbox and select settings. You can set how many days the Axim will keep an email, you may have it set to zero.

Looks like we're screwed Blueflies, no one seems to give a @#*! about this problem or they've never experienced it for themselves. I've searched a few other sites including Dell's forums and aximusers.com and have found similar instances of this occurance. It seems to be a very perplexing problem as no one else had any clue what was going on either. As for me, I've tried everything I can think of; hard reset Ax and restored, reinstalled active sync and reinstalled outlook 2000. Nothing has made a difference. Don't know if this helps but I'm running win 98se and active sync 3.6 (downloaded from microsoft's site). Let me know if you find a solution out there somewhere, I'd greatly appreciate it.

sid311,

Try this please:

1/ Open up Inbox

2/ Go to --> Tools / Options / Message

3/ Make sure that under "Empty deleted items", the choice "Manually" is selected.

Click "OK" and see if this solved the problem.

Cheers,

Sabesh.

Thanks for the info Sabesh, but unfortunately I've already tried that. I don't have any idea what could be going on here. I'm thinking it's a software related issue, but I've tried reinstalling outlook and active sync but no luck. Maybe it's a hardware problem with the Ax, I don't know. Thanks again for your post.

I am with ya. I have email on my Ax from my PC and then it is gone. I have even marked specific email for download and the entire message is gone after a sync.

Any thoughts?
