Question...
I can Activesync wirelessly, but as soon as the sync is complete, the Axim and my desktop disconnect - therefore I cannot run the Backup. How do you get the connection to remain AFTER the activesync?

Run the sync through your axim, and once its done running go to the desktop and as usual do the backup thats what i do. I am not sure how to keep it active as i do not AT ALL remember a option or anything.

In the Active Sync window on the PC, does it help to set it for Sync continuously? (Tools, Options, Schedule)

Mine is set to sync continously, so it can't be that option. After my Axim and PC sync wirelessly, they disconnect (I can hear the disconnect tones on both) immediately, so that the Backup option is no longer available on the PC.

The dekstop option to 'sync continuously' only keeps your Ax alive as long as it is in the cradle/attached with a cable.
To remotely sync continuously, fire-up AS on your Ax, goto "Tools" -> "Options" -> "Schedule", and uncheck "When synchronizing remotely... disconnect when done"
Cheers.
