EVERYONE who does a FULL BACKUP READ THIS (how to speed it up)
Ok I am not sure if this is floating around or not but try this everyone at least those who apply. As you all know a full backup from PPC to computer takes a Sh*t long time around half hour or more. At least for me it took around 40 minutes. Ok for those who have a wireless connection and use activesync that way try this. First from your axim with your wireless card on do a sync. once done go to your desktop and follow the normal procedure to do a full backup. make sure your axim is not in the cradle. and just click BACK UP NOW. through the wireless connection it TOOK LIKE 3 MINUTES. I DID FULL BACKUP AND EVERYTHING LIKE USUALLY. EVERYONE try it and LET ME KNOW if it worked for you. hopefully this made sense

I'm gonna just cut n paste about some other tips for doing backups from this thread

Some tips for backups:
Full backup is always the safest (ie: incremental backup may corrupt ur previous backup file); but if you want to avoid the sluggishness of a fullbackup but want the robustness, perform an incremental like Raynne has mentioned -- but keep a copy of the old backup and then increment on another copy for safety sake.
Also, if you have a NIC or WiFi setup use that instead of the USB cradle to perform the backup/restore, its blazingly fast.

Yeah, the WiFi backup/restore is da bomb!
cheers.

It took exactly 3 minutes to do the backup wirelessly. The backup file is 14,789KB. I was connected at 11M so it's a little faster than the slow USB1.1 connection!

If you got your wifi to setup for internet and stuff for your Ax and then have a proper partnership with ur desktop; just fireup your AS in your X5, and click 'synch' -- it should then automatically sync with your desktop, from there you can backup and restore.
Cheers.

Does anyone know if the Axim cradle/sync cable uses USB full speed (12 Mbps) or low speed (1.5 Mbps)?

So that's why the wireless backup went so quickly (1.5Mb/s compared too 11Mb/s). This is a great tip falgun, thanks. :D
