ActiveSync 3.5 and 3.6 questions

My Axim 400 MHz is coming tomorrow and I want to install activesync. I have heard some people say to install 3.5 off the cd and then download 3.6 and install it. I have also heard some people say that it is not necessary to install 3.5 at all but it is necessary but that you need to install the USB drivers for the Axim off the cd. If this is true, install the drivers before or after 3.6? Is it obvious what the USB drivers are on the CD? Can anyone tell me the truth and give me the instructions on it?

Install the USB drivers before installing AS 3.6 or else you will get an error during the install that the device cannot be found.

If you forget you can install the USB drivers after and then rerun the connection wizard but this is asking for problems...especially with XP.

If XP finds your Axim before you install the proper drivers you may have a bugger of a time getting it to accept the drivers afterwards. There are some Microsoft Knowledge base articles on this.
