ActiveSync, Lotus Notes calendar issue
On my Axim I create an all day calendar event. The Status is set to Free. When I sync to Lotus Notes, the event is marked with Pencil In set. This makes my entire day look busy to someone viewing my Notes calendar. Anyone have any ideas on how to change this behaviour?
Axim X5
WM2003
Lotus Notes 6.5
Cadenza mNotes
ActiveSync 3.7
Thanks,
Frank

"Pencil in" is supposed to keep your calendar free in free time queries. That said, I have noticed the same thing. But when I change the appointment to clear "pencil in", save it and then change it back, the free time is correct.
It looks to be some sort of bug. Cadenza has pretty good support, though; why not report it?
By the way, we are still at 6.02, going to 6.5 next weekend.

I have played around a little more, and so far this is what I have discovered: When I create an all day entry in my Axim, the entry in Notes has Pencil In checked, but the time is not shown as free. If I edit the Notes entry and save it, the time becomes shown as free. Sounds just like what yours is doing. I have sent an e-mail to Cadenza, but no response yet. I hope the problem is a Cadenza issue, 'cuase if it is Notes or WM2003, it'll never get fixed. And it is driving my boss nuts - he can't schedule meetings for me. Maybe that's a good thing :>)

ActiveSync and LotusNotes
Allo,
I'm a Sales rep for Dell Software and Peripherals. The problem is that ActiveSync (even 3.7.1) was not completely designed to syncronize with LotusNotes, only Outlook 2000-2003. The best thing I can recommend is a third party program called Intellisync will properly syncronize with LotusNotes and many other Email and organizational programs other than Outlook. Feel free to contact Dell for more info. :-)

Cadenza does not use ActiveSync to synchronize. While ActiveSync can be used as a trigger to launch the synchronization, it uses its own method, and has the ability to run on a server so that you can replicate over TCP/IP from any sort of network connection.
I can say most wholeheartedly that I have tried all of the Lotus Notes syncing solutions - Cadenza, Intellisync, XTNDConnect, and the one that Lotus sells (I cannot recall the name, but it is basically an OEM of XTNDConnect). IMHO Cadenza is the best.

I used IntelliSync previously, and it had a major problem with recurring appointments. That's why I switched to Cadenza. It has worked well to this point.
BTW, I received a reply from CommonTime saying they had reproduced the problem and are looking into it.

Curious if they have offerred a solution yet.
The IBM product is now called WebSphere Everyplace and is in beta (to be released sometime this June) to correspond with their now WorkPlace strategy.

Yes, Commontime released a minor update that corrected the problem. Now that part works fine. Unfortunately, I have discovered another problem: When I schedule a new meeting in Notes (which is different than an appointment) and fill in the attendees and chair, and then the meeting is synced to the Axim, the attendees name format is switched from what it is in the Notes Contacts to something else in the Axim. The Axim doesn't care, but when I sync the Axim to my home Outlook calendar, ActiveSync can't match the attendees with the Contacts (which are also synced) and so will not sync the appointments. The end result is that my work meetings don't show up in my home calendar.
Commontime is working on this one also.

Common Time is great. The only thing I have run into is every so often it will come back and say 6021 items not synced and then after several syncs it is fine. Would love to know how to see what the conflict is.
