Question about microphone

Does anyone know if there are external microphones for the X5? Maybe a microphone jack? Compact flash?

What do you want it for? Im using Sound explorer (software) and the built in mic. for interviews during my Ph. D studies. It works quite well if you are sitting a meter away from the person you are interviewing. However you need a lot of memory in order to store the data. 1h of interview with decent quality is about 100 mb.

Thanks for the reply. I want to use it to record therapy sessions. So, like an interview, I will be close to the other person who is speaking.

I just downloaded Sound Explorer. Good suggestion. NoteM just kept freezing up.

I found that a 3.5 minute recording at 11kHz (16mono) produced an 823kb file. I'm assuming that a 60min recording at this quality would be something like 16MB. With my 128MB SD card, this would be acceptable. Headphones makes everything better.

Is there anything wrong with my logic? Have you found this quality recording to be sufficient for your work?

No I cant see any problem with it. Go with whatever suits you the best. I think it will work terrific. By testing I have found that the higher qualities creates some kind of bad sound (unlistenable) and of course larger files. For the moment I have 700 mb of memory and need about 500 of them for the interviews in one day so I just prefer to go with the highest possible.
