cache - internal memory vs CF card???

Is there any way to set your IE cache to be off your CF card as opposed to internal memory?

I am using a wireless router at home, and I hope the loading of the pages aren't going to be slower as a result...

Thanks!

Alas, there are no current ways to redirect your cache from the Internal Memory at this time. There are rumors that a new version of Windows Mobile (PocketPC OS) will have that, but nothing substantial. :-(

Do you have PPC2002 or WM2003?

It's doable under PPC2002. For me it only slowed down first time page viewing slightly when Cache was set to the SD Card, recalling the site after the first time (with no connection to the internet) seemed faster.

This is possible via a registry hack. Either you can edit the registry manually or you can get Tweaks2k2 to do this for you. Tweaks2k2 also has several other registry hacks to do other nice things on your PDA.

I don't think this app will do this particular Registry hack, but it offers many hacks, and it's free.

If you use WM2003, you can get a registry editor and go to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/Windows/Current Version/Explorer/Shell Folders

and change the data of the following values:
Cache
Cookies
History

By default, they point to \Windows\Profiles\...
You can make them point to \SD Card\Profiles\... or whatever you name your storage device is.

Then, copy the Profiles directory from \Windows to your card. Your file explorer might complain that it can't copy index.dat, just ignore that warning. The software will recreate those files if they don't exist.

After a soft reset, pocket IE should use the new location.
