Question how many mp3 files fit in 128 flash?

Ok im about to purchase a 128mb flsh, how many mp3's will fit. I know it depends on file size and quality, but I need a ball park figure.

About one fourth as many than if you convert them to WMA format.

look at one of your mp3s, the filesize, multiply it until you get close to but not under 128, I'd say abotu 32 mp3s and almost 2 times as many mwa's

However if I were you I'd get a 256 mb card, I got a Mr Flash oen on ebay for like 35, believe me your gonna want more room and what good is having 2 cards if you can just spend a little more (maybe) and get a bigger one, they are pretty cheap right now.

I don't know how you rip your CD's, but @ the usual 128kbs stereo 44khz, you get about a minute of audio/meg. So you're looking roughly at 2 hours of music. So about 2 cd albums worth.

Cheers.

so how does WMA scale down the bit/data? Does it reduce the sample rate? What is it equivelant to.....96bps? 64? Does it even sound OK?

64 kb/s is more like it, with quality all the way to low end. Sometimes it sounds a little funny, like a ringing distortion. Overall the quality is good on most tracks.

Windows Media Player 9 on your PC will rip CDs to WMA and send the files to your PPC. Only playable with P-WMP, but it will also play mp3s.
WMP9 will also convert mp3 to wma.
