My Documents

I got my Ax yestarday, and so far I love it!! No if I can just figure it out. I am now trying to learn how to install programs, I am going through the disc and installing what I will need. I am trying to install some eBooks. Which looks like a basic drag and drop type thing. I noticed when I opened Mobile Device/My Pocket PC there is a 'My Documents' folder that contains several other folders. Then there is a 'Built-in Storage' folder that contains another 'My Documents' folder which is empty.
The eBook instructions say to copy the books to the My Documents folder. What are the differences in these 2. I'm assuming the Storage one is the one I should, but what is the other for?
Also, is there a wat to relocate the My Docs folder to my SD Card?

Any insight would be great

You should be able to put the eBooks where you want to . Just copy them into the SD card and open your eBook reader...

Some software only looks in My Documents folders, so it is best to have a My Documents in any storage you use. However, the MSReader looks everywhere for books, so as cageyjames said, go ahead and put them anywhere you want.

Built in storage refers to the SD card. The other my docs refers to the finite memory your Axim comes with (not that the SD card is not finite, but you can always buy more external storage space). Be selective with they e-books. They can be space-takers.

Actually "Built In Storage" is the excess ROM that you can use to file things. Depending on the machine, you have between 5 meg and 23 meg available there. However, it has a shorter life than RAM or SD/CF Card Ram, so I would advise against using it for volatile files.

For simplicity of finding files, you should have a My Documents folder in Built In, Main (Storage), and on each removable memory device (SD/CF cards). You don't have to put everything there, but you should at least create the directory so that programs that look for it can find it in each location.

Hmmm. Sorry about the misinformation. This leads me to a question. Where is the SD card? The manual indicates that the one that comes with the Axim is 5mb. That is what is being indicated by my battery pack and in my file explorer - it is labeled built-in storage.

As far as I know no Axim comes with an SD card. And they dont even make a 5mb size. Where in the manual are you finding this info? I assumed that built in storage was the extra memory on the Ax.

Sorry, don't have the information in front of me. I'm at work. I'll look it up at home tonight. I don't think I saw it in the manual, but I'll search for it. I could be dead wrong about all of this - wouldn't be the first time.

FYI, the SD card goes into the slot on the side. It is a click in-click out type. Kind of like cabinets that you push in to open. I don't remember seeing one at less than 32 MB although I think they make a 8 and 16 MB. Goes up to 512 at the moment (if memory serves) and SanDisk is announcing a 1GB whopper (hold the fries) in the fall.

That 5mb your seeing is left over ROM (32mb - 27mb OS). It is made writable and called "Built-in Storage". Like the main ROM, it is non-volatile, and not lost during a hard reset.

SD memory is extra memory that you add, with an SD or MMC card.
