memory errors in ActiveSync

Hi all,

I am becoming increasingly frustrated with my Axim/ActiveSync and wondered if anyone has had a similar problem. I've been using PocketPc's in their various guises for years, starting out with my first, which was Compaq Aero many many moons ago. I consider myself quite savvy witht he technology having been trough various machines since those days, but have realy become frustrated with my Axim recently.

For the last 3 months, I haven't been able to do any synching with my desktop. Everytime I try I get the following pop-up error box....

wcesmgr.exe - Application Error

The instruction at "0x77f596b5" referenced memory at "0x01fffff9". The memory could not be "read"
Click on OK to terminate the program
Click on CANCEL to debug the program

Any ideas as to what is happening? I have now tried 5 or 6 hard resets of the Axim and at least 20 deletions and re0installs of Activesynch. Currently using 3.7.1 It always happens on the files section of synching. I have tried it with no files in the pocket_pc folder on my desktop, and all files, removing suspect files...you name it...I think I have tried it. I have even now done three re-installs of my desktop from scratch (including formats). My PC runs like a bullet, and then gets shot down by active synch! I've also tried the powered hub and the onboard usb ports to no avail.

I'm using an HP Pavillion Pentium 42.8ghz, windows XP professional

Any clues before I finally convert my Axim to a coaster?

Cheers all.....

DavidM

According to Chris De Herrera's Site, there is a fix:
Quote:
a. See Elron Software's fix for this.
b, If you have Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition version 8.0.x upgrade to 8.1.x.
Unfortunately, the first option goes to a site that hasn't been active in months. I looked at it last year but unfortunately, did not copy the instructions so I'm not sure what to suggest unless the Symantec fix applies to you.
