Axim turning on without cause...

I know this has been addressed before, but I can't find the threads. Sometimes when I turn my Axim on in the morning, the battery is dead. It must be coming on at night. I do not have any alarms that are set to turn it on. Nor do I have any appointments the next day that have an alarm set that early. It does it when I have it stored in the case and when I have it out. It seems to be sporadic. Any one else have this problem.

A couple more things to check is if you have a synchronization schedule set or an email account set to retrieve messages on a regular schedule.

The Axim will turn on at midnight to check upcoming alarms and do mainentance. I have found that if anything is touching the screen during this, it is registered as a 'tap' and the system won't shut down...leading to dead battery.

Check your case or whatever your Ax may be stored in for this.

Wow, I wouldn't have guessed this was the culprit. I have the same problem from time to time. I think that the Walmart-bought Targus case I bought for the Axim may from time to time apply a little pressure on the screen (not enough to do any damage, but perhaps enough that if it DID come on by itself for maintenance, it might register the tap). I've run down my backup battery once just by not realizing that the unit had been dead for days on end, probably because of exactly this.

Thanks a lot....I always thought I was forgetting to close out of Active Sync, and it was turning on and staying on when I had a reminder/snooze set.
Now I know it's my case and sd card storage box tapping against the screen.....:p :D
