Back up battery issue on X5...fixed?

Hello,

I was trying anything that was recommended to try and fix the low battery back up warning from coming on. Finally, I got !@#$ off and took my battery out(a walmart cheap one) and took the battery prongs and bent them up about 1/16th of an inch ,cleaned my battery and reinstalled. It was tight upon replacement. I haven't had a low battery issue going on 3 weeks now. Am I lucky or did this work? We shall see.

two things that you did are most likely the fix: 1. CLEANED the battery. I have found this to be one of the most important things. I fixed the last problem I had by this alone. Carefully wipe off all the oil, fingerprints etc. 2. bend up the prongs. Hope your fix holds.

What you did has often been reported to work for others. Hopefully, this will be a permanent fix. You mentioned a cheap Walmart battery--some have said, also, that name brand batteries seem to work better. Don't know why that would make a difference, but worth a try when you need to change the battery.

replaced backup battery but cannot sync to my pc

I had similar problems where it was telling me to replace my backup batter or else loss of data will occur. Once I replaced it, it then said my main batter was very low (which it wasn't, at least according to my battery meter) or else loss of data may occur. I have another main battery so I replaced it but as soon as I hit the power button, my whole machine did a hard reset. Fortunately I did a backup a couple of days prior. I used the backup to restore everything I had on my Axim.

The problem is that I can no longer sync to either my pc at home or work which I had been able to do without a glitch until my battery problems. I have tried deleting partnerships, reinstalling Active Sync.....
I'm not sure what I am doing wrong, has anyone had similar problems after a hard reset and then using backup to restore but having problems syncing?

the error message I get is:
"Synchronization Error" It acts as if it starts to connect but then I get that error.

Please help, I'm at your mercy.:crooked:

Doesn't soundlike there is much that can be done other than export all the info you need to CF/SD card and slip it into the computer via a card reader. If non of this is a viable option then you may wanna try and put all your data in BIS an hard reset.
You will lose all programs but your data should be intact on the BIS side of the ROM which isnt erased during a hard reset. Also if you wanna name you Axim the same thing it has always been you can delete the partnership with that unit through the main Activesync window.(it will be under the "file" menu) delete the partner ship but do NOT delete the sync'ed files (i.e. Pocket_PC My Documents) this will be the second question the conputer will ask. Hard reset, then rename the Pocket PC the same thing you did before (if you didnt name it then it will show up as the example above.) when you set up new partnership it will create the "My Docs" folder for sync'ing and if there named the same they will just merge to the same folder and instant restore of your docs that are sync'ed on the computer and no need to worry wether or not the hard reset messed up the BIS. If you would like me to email you these step by step intstructions i can just email me and i will send them to you.
