Synch at home & at work
So my Axim came yesterday and I'm in heaven! I've got it up and running, synched it at home, with no problem. I bought the USB travel cable and the USB cradle. The cable I'm leaving at home so I can synch at home. The cradle I've bought for at work, so I can synch at, well you know. Will this work, does anybody know? I haven't taken it to work yet, being that I'm sick today, but I've got an internet connection at home that's a dial up, and the one at work is probably some high speed conneciton T2 or something... will I have any problems? Thanks!

sure you're sick. that's a good one man. hehehe. but you shouldn't have any problems synching with both home and work. i haven't tried it, but i'm sure that it'll work. i'm sure someone that has done it will respond but i just wanted to comment on your excuse not to go to work. that's a good one, i should've tried that when i got my axim. hehehe. :D

Easy to do. When you created the first partnership I hope you indicated you planned to sync the Ax with another PC, because that is the first step. When you get to work (Don't forget to take the Dell CDROM!) you need to install the USB drivers on the desktop, along with Activesync and Outlook, if it's not already there. Then you can cradle the Ax and set up the second partnership. When you sync, you'll have to decide what you want to do with what's in the Ax now. Do you copy it up to the desktop, blend the two together, or bring the desktop down to the Ax and overwrite whatever's there now? Think about that before you start so you know what you want to do.
Once you get this three way going, the desktop, Ax and home machine will all have the same contacts, tasks, calendar, etc. Unfortunately, only one of the two machines can sync email with the Ax, so you'll have to make a choice there.
I do this every day, so I know it works. I'm getting ready to sync with Lotus Notes as well, since that's our corporate standard and transferring meetings from Notes to Outlook is getting old.

Hey Barticus,
That's exactly what I did... The only thing you have to keep in mind is to avoid having dupes. For me it was easy... What I did was choose the Contacts, Tasks, Notes and Calendar from work and in my mind set it up and the PRIMARY ones. Then I sync'd my blank Axim with my Work PC.
In order to avoid dupes, AND SINCE all my Home contacts, calendars, etc. are at work too, I made a backup, deleted teh contacts, calendar, tasks, etc at home and let the ones in the Axim fill them up again when synching.
If you have totally different contacts for example at home and work you should have no problems... But if you have entered them at home and at work, when synching you might end up having dupes, so try to eliminate dupes in one of the two PCs (that is, if you cannot do what I described in the firsts parragraphs), or eliminate them later on in the Axim, which might be easier.
I hope this helps some! Best regards,
Carlitos

Thanks!
Thanks Everyone for the great replies... looking forward into going into work tomorrow (for once!).... I'm wondering how the synch with Avantgo will happan since it's different ports? Will I have to not synch Avantgo at work b/c my home is a dialup and work is a network connection (I work for the gov't). Any roadblocks here?......
