FYI Friends,

I have found out that NONE of the screen protectors are damaged (as many of us believe). You actually peel off a screen protector protector from one of the bent tips on the corner. These screen protectors are actually one of the best I used. They don't leave any sticky stuff on the screen and are reusable. They are very clear now and have NO scratches. The difference is very noticeable as soon as you insert the actual screen protector without the adhesive protector.

Hey, I was wondering, do you have to peel off both sides or jsut one? I peeled off one side but the protector is now a little scratched all over. I'm curious because I use to have these protectors for an old ipaq and I had to peel off both sides, once which wa considerably less noticable. I tried to find another side and I can't :)

There is only one side to peel of with the Dell Created screen protectors. The side you peel off is the side where the corners look pointed down when you hold it flat (I.E. if you consider the corners to be slanted or pointed, when you hold it on a flat surface they will point up or down).
Also please note that the protectors have little holes in them, that help it stay in place by cohesion. If you wet the surface of the protector, liquid may seep though the tiny hole, and you may see a "bubbling" affect under the protector. Just lift it up and reseat it!

So once you put it on the screen, where should the corner face? up or down?

I always tought they should face up to make it easier to remove the protector and because otherwise, the protector wouldn't be touching the screen. Can anyone confirm that?

(Hmmm, I guess Dell should have included a user manual about these protectors, but then we would all feel stupid! )

It really would have been nice to find out how to use the protectors... Some instructions would have been nice.

It is strange that there were no instructions at all as to removing a backing. At the very least the backing could have had printing on it saying to remove it. I too thought the protectors were terrible until I found out about peeling the backing. Even that wasn't so easy to do (no fingernails lol).
Most of the time things are "over-instructional", guess they figured people would figure it out over time.

Just a quick note, the best PDA screen protector out there
is the Brando screen protector

http://shop.brando.com.hk/screenprotector.php

I had mine for about one year on my Sonly Clie, when
I got my Dell Axim, I did not want to wait for a new
screen protector in the mail, and luckily the screens
from my clie and dell are nearly the same size, I just
took it off the Sony, washed it, and reapplied it to the
dell, .. easy as pie... and still looks great.

The BEST screen protectors (and better than the above) are these:

Well worth the extra cash.

The Write Shields from Pocket PC Techs that Androo referred to have been hailed on basically on every forum as the best out there. A bit pricey but from what I understand well worth it. I just ordered mine about an hour ago. I will post when I get them and let you know about my experience.

Ok i am a newbie, so please bare with me on this. What makes one screen protector so much better than another. I use Dells, i am happy with it. Of course i guess i don't know any better. So why should i go out and get Write Sheilds or Brando or any other brand for that matter, why are they so unbelievably good?

It probably has more to do with personal preference than anything else.

Some people like Screen protectors that fit snug but have nothing adhesive or tacky that make them stick to the screen. Some people report that protectors such as those put out by Fellowes or WriteRights (Not to be confused with WriteSHields which everyone says are great) feel mushy and have too much give when writing on the screens with the Stylus, especially when using Transcriber or Block recognizer.
The complaints about the Dell Screen protectors that I have heard say that the tiny bumps on the undersides of the protectors leave small indentations on the screens during heavy usage. (I am not confirming or denying this claim as I have not used them, I am merely reporting back the comments I have read from other users who have used the Dell's).

And then there are very simple complaints such as length of time before the protectors themselves getting scratched or indentations made and need to be replaced, if the protectors have a glare to them (of course you would hope that the protectors would reduce, not increase glare), do they attract dust particles and does dust and dirt get trapped between the screen and the protector itself, are the protectors clear or do they give the screen a cloudy or foggy look.

All of these factors, complaints, pros, cons come into play when evaluating Screen protectors. And from pretty extensive research I have found that the ones most recommended are the WriteShields from Pocket PC Techs. Now keep in mind I have yet to receive mine as I just ordered them today but I will tell you that they are pricey (29 dollars for one pack which contains 3 protectors) but on the flip side most users report they need to change them every few months at the earliest. But its up to each person to make the decision about the ones they would like to use, that’s why these forums are so great - to get first hand experience from people. Not the company line.
