Can't Delete File on Axim - Help

Yesterday, I couldn't get a program to load the normal way so I made an folder within My Documents called Audio OSC and copied the files for the application called Pocket Oscillator (got from freewareppc.com) into the folder. The program seems to run fine but I've determined that I don't want to keep it. It is not listed in the Remove Programs part of the Control panel so just figured that would delete the folder to clear it out of the Axim. I tried to do it with Explore button on ActiveSync and get the following messages:

"Can't Delete Pocket Oscillator Access Denied"

"Make sure file is not set as read-only and that you have permission to copy this file type"

I get the same message when I try to delete the Pocket Oscilator.exe file directly.

Also tried to delete it within the Axim using File Explorer. Made sure that the program was not open. Got the same messages about access denied.

Any ideas on how I get get this application off the Axim???

It sounds like the program is still running, so it's in use and can't be deleted.
You can shut applications down for real with the Switcher program, or just do a soft reset and then try to delete the folder.

When you use the normal close button on the Navigation bar, you're really just minimizing the app.

I had closed everything out with the Switcher so it was not running and still got the same error messages.

However, when I did a soft reset and went immediately to File Explorer on the Axim and tried to delete the actual program file, IT WORKED. From there I had no trouble deleted the folder and the rest of the contents.

Thanks a bunch for the help. Something must have still been running in the program although it looked like it was gone. Soft Resets work wonders sometimes.

Thanks again.

i suspect the soft reset clears the registry entry and therefore is necessary....but thats only a guess!

A real good guess. Had the same problem and had to do a soft reset to get rid of the offending application. I have a real love/hate relation with the soft reset button, kind of like with the three finger salute on my PC. Never had much need for the soft reset button on my 2 Pilots, but I'll put up with it on the Axim - it is that much better!!!!!
