Backup Battery Contact

I had been experiencing intermittent problems with my backup battery. Every once in a while I would get a message telling me to charge my backup battery. When I looked at the battery meter is showed the backup battery at 0%. If I took out the backup battery and reinserted it, the percentage would go back to 100%. This made me suspect that the battery was not making a good contact.

I also noticed the cover over the backup battery compartment didn’t seem to fit very tight. To remedy the problem I simply took a very small piece of foam padding an inserted it between the inside of the battery compartment cover and the top of the backup battery. I was very careful to make sure this piece of foam would not interfere with the battery’s contacts.

This seems to have corrected both the loose fit of the cover as well as the backup battery contact problem.

Am wondering if there are others who have a loose cover on the backup battery compartment, and if there are any concerns I should have about inserting this small piece of foam?

I'm having problems getting the cover to go back on flush to the unit, too. No amount of fighting with it will get it to go back on the flush with the body. I'd love to know if anyone else has a problem with this or if I'm doing something wrong.

Thanks.

Cool check the little black oval button on the back

Hope this solves it.....

There's a little oval-shaped button on the back of your axim, right above the top left cover of the large battery compartment. Slip your stylus in the embedded hole (near the lock symbol) and slide it towards the unlock symbol). While holding the sliding button in this unlock position, put your door cover back in. Now lelease the button so it goes back to the lock position

yea I've had some really annoying problems with my battery, before, every now and then my Axim would just shut off, so I figured it was my main battery's contacts after some time, I took off the battery and bended out the contacts so it would contact better so far I havent had anymore unexpected shutdowns, but I'm still getting these battery warning that says my battery is dead even though my meters show different, I'm not sure if it said backup battery but I'm going to try and tighten the backup batteries contacts like what you did. One other thing I'm guessing from all the main battery shortages my backup is now only at 70%, has anyone else seen there backup battery drop, I've had mine for maybe half a year.
