The easiest way is to download MS Theme Generator.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...powertoys.mspx

This pretty much takes the guesswork out of it. It's for WM2002, but will work for WM2003, you just need to copy the .tsk file to your Pocket_PC My Documents folder manually.

I copied the file over to My docs and it wont download the themed desktop to the ppc. says " the connected device is not running Pocket PC2002. Unable to download skin." message appears.

The generator is easy to use, but I have a feeling that there is some small thing I'm not doing properly.

Is there somewhere that backs up the original theme? I kinda like that & want to put it back if my new theme stinks.

You don't delete the original theme, you just select another. The original theme should still be there as available regardless which theme you are currently displaying. I have gone back to the original theme every now and then.
