Network Problem

Hello everyone!

I have a X5 Advanced with ppc2003 in it and I am running into a problem when I have my Axim out of the cradle or not sync'ing with the PC that it keeps trying to connect to the internet. My question is how do you find out what program is trying to connect to turn it off? It keep popping up during game play and screwing up my game. After hitting hide on the pop box that it cannot connect, I lose control of the game and have to end it with the buttons.

Also, is there a tutorial on BASIC networking concepts so that I can understand this stuff? I am having to re-set up a partnership with my two pc's evertime I sync for some reason. I do not understand enought to saolve that problem either.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Doug

Still completely lost...

I cannot get the stupid thing to remember the partnership on both computers. Also, is there anyway to find out what is trying to access the internet of connection from my pocket pc?

Two possibilities for the attempting to connect:

In ActiveSync on the Axim, check Tools, Options, Mobile Schedule (tab) and make sure the "When syncing wirelessly" options are each set to manual.

If you have an email account set to download at regular intervals, it will also try to connect. The solution I found was to select ActiveSync as the account from the Inbox account list when you are not actually connected.

When you say 'remember the partnership on both computers' - are you trying to sync wirelessly to two PCs? Do the PCs want to set up a new partnership each time? One possible solution is IP Manager. This saves network settings and PC partnership names. You have to chose which PC you are connecting to prior to attempting to sync.

Thank you very much for the help, I eventually found the problem with the program trying to connect, it was in fact as you mentioned the email trying to connect. I fixed that, no more messages. I will have to browse the tutorials and re-read my manual. I really do grasp computer concepts fairly well, but this sync'ing has me all turned around...

Thanks again for the help, this site is awesome. Have a great weekend and remember to pray for our unborn...

Doug
