Wireless SD slot solutions...

Lately, there's been news here and there about various WiFi cards coming for Secure Digital slots. Does anyone know about this stuff? I'm anxious to surf untethered, but I like having my Microdrive in the Compact Flash slot. So if I got a CF WiFi card, I'd also have to buy some SD memory which would get pretty expensive.

One of the neat things I've seen is that some companies are working on combo cards for SD which will have both extra Flash memory AND a WiFi component. Beyond actually getting something like this, I'd also be pretty concerned about software support for it.

How far away do you folks think something like this would be? Weeks? Months? Years? Gadget junkies want to know!

The good news is that these cards are supposed to be coming soon. I think I saw that Sandisk would have one in March.

The bad news is that it appears the Axim is not enabled for SDIO, i.e. the SD slot on the Axim cannot handle an input/output device like a WiFi card. Perhaps this will change or can be updated through a ROM update, but it seems that the general consensus is that SDIO is not supported. In fact, a thread on the actual Dell customer forums had the moderator asking what SDIO stood for when the question was posed. He never came back with an answer, but I have seen in a number of different places that it is no.

Thanks a lot, I have been wrangling back and forth with the vendor that I bought the Toshiba bluetooth card from now I know for sure that the Axim will not support a secure digital bluetooth card, sad but at least I know where I stand thanks all...
