That is great! I really  my X5 and I was surprised after seeing all the interest and good reviews on this site that it was discontinued. I bought my wife a X3 basic, though I like the sleek look, I don't like the limitations on storage but for her it’s good to go. Maybe now the ebay value for the X5 will go up.

now someone just has to find why it vanished for 3 months. it's the exact same X5, right down to the price, so they dont appear to have done any re-tooling, although they may have had to do something to increase output in order to meet demand and keep the price stable.... no idea what that would entail exactly.
anyway 3 months is a god-awful long time for a product to disappear for, and far far longer than it would take to restock, IMO, unless demand increased 700% or more in early January.
i'm really not sure why anyone would now really want an x5, what with the x3i... there's really no need for a CF slot because of the SDIO slot and the integrated WiFi on the x3i. the x5 is big, bulky, heavy and older by comparison, even if it does have rubber grips on the side.
the x3i is a far better choice, and is actually cheaper!
its a really strange move on dell's part - i really cant see how they will sell that many - the x3 advanced (without wireless, but same processor) is far cheaper and has a much more portable design.
i think i have the answer. they have withdrawn the x3 advanced, which has pretty much the same specs. maybe they are out of stock?? and they've brought in the x5 as an interim solution, to please those who dont need wireless??
People like me want the X5 so I can use my 2.2GB Microdrive in the CF slot. Or a CF Modem. Or a CF Ethernet Card (for non-wireless LANs). Or a CF GPS. Or a CF to PCMCIA adaptor. And the list goes on and on.

Excellent news! Looks like Dell will continue their support. I want to get WM2003 SE (when it comes out) and hopfully it will fix the audio issue that many are having... I will be very happy...:)
Yup...I like that I have so many options with the X5! I had a choice between X5 and X3...glad I picked X5!!
Just checked the site (if this hasn't been mentioned already)...
The X5 is $3 more then the X3i (with 15% discount)....
