read the MultiMedia forum and stop using 1-click conversion like a newb?

I think what Aximphreak ( who appearently was never a newbie ) is trying to tell you is that some of the "all in one" software awnsers don't have many settings available and that a search of the multimedia forum will get you a ton of info on how best to get your video onto your pda.

There isn't a thing wrong with one-click solutions. Having to use 4-5 programs just to get a DVD to play on your PPC doesn't make you uber-special. It just takes time away from other things that you can be doing instead.
Try this instead: PQDVD Downloadable trial version; very reasonably priced, if you don't mind paying for software that works and doesn't require to to bend over backwards to use.

Tried Pocket DVD Studio trial and it worked great. No problem getting the dvd to transfer to my axim and no problem with the sound sync. I want to try a few more dvd's before I invest 30 bucks on the program though. It worked a lot better than the other 1 step program that people were takling about. It skipped and the audio sync stunk.

A quick look at the site doesn't reveal a specific platform. Therefore I would imagine that it works on either ppc2002 and ppc2003. There is a trial download you can get to give it a whirl.

I can confirm that Pocket DVD studio works on PPC 2002. This is quite a good 1- click converter. (of course if you are a newbe)
I have bought the full version and I am quite happy with it.

The multimedia forum will have lots of answers for you. It would be a good idea to read through some of the posts and how-to's before you get started so you can learn from others situations. Here are some suggsetions though.
Use Smartripper to rip the dvd to your hd. From there you can do one of two things. Encode in divx or wmv.
To encode in divx I use PocketDivxEncoder. To encode in wmv you would use Windows Media Encoder 9.
Have fun!

I hate to sound like a freaking commercial for the software, but Pocket DVD has it all. 1-click solution for newbs and experienced users as well. It comes with it's own player; Pocket MVP I think.
I didn't pay attention to the output file; if it was divx or wmv, but if you have a preference then jpmarth's solution sounds good.
If anyone from Pocket DVD wants to compensate me for these testimonials, please donate it directly to Aximsite through PayPal (Lord knows I need to make my contribution one of these days).

SO the demo only lets you rip about 20 minutes of video right? Just making sure my computer didn't just give up during the night.

Yup, that's about right. Long enough to give you a good sample of what it has to offer.

Dang, the program keeps locking up on me!
I did all that DVDripper, etc. already, and I want to try the easy route now...
Oh well, I hope I can get it to work, so I could see if its worth the money...

Just bought it after trying it with about 6 different dvds. So far, so good!! Go to Geekzone and you will get a 15 % discount. Saves you about 4-5 bucks.:)
