10 Percent off or Rebate.. Or any other type of discount

Okay Im extremely poor but I do want a Dell Axim 400.. and not the 300..

2 part Question

Its just that I really need to find some good discounts.. Has anyone had luck with getting Dell to slash prices if it takes too long to get to your house etc? Ive seen a guy get his 400mhz for 185 after 50 dollar mail in rebate because of his complaints :P

Next question...

Can I get the 10 percent off instead of the 50 dollar mail in rebate if i ask you think?

Frankly Id rather have cash on hand then have to wait forever for an extra 15 bucks..

Thanks guys,
Pez

dell 50 off rebate is back

Rebates are redeemable after purchase at regular price (before rebate price). Rebate offer valid with new Dell Axim X5 Handheld purchased by 3/19/03 11PM CT.

15 bucks? 50 bucks? 10% off $349 = 35 dollars and then forget the 15?

I was able to use a $40 dollar coupon off the 349 which is 309 and they still let me use the $50 rebate. Total price $259. I know others got theirs for even less. But I initially wanted the money off the top up front and ended up getting a bonus!

Dell sometimes works in mysterious ways. If you catch the right person at the right time, you can get an incentive thrown your way. I wouldn't count on it though ... being "poor" (your words) is not a good "complaint." Google search for a coupon, and watch Dell's current promotions ... timing is everything. Good luck ...

Question

Did I get the best of both worlds? Hmm...

I hadn't thought about this before... okay, here's the gist - I ordered my AX400 on 2/18, the last day of the 10% off. Now, the order did not go through or process or whatever until 2/19. Dell's webpage and Customer Service line both say my order date was 2/19/03, which happens to be the first day of the rebate. SO, all told, with the $40 off coupon, my dell cost me $274 out the door.

NOW, my curiosity piques... Have I met the best of both worlds? I'm going to send in my rebate as soon as my AX arrives (Monday or Tuesday, depending on when UPS shows up :D) - what do y'all think the chances of me seeing that $50 check in the long run? I figure I'll send it in and see what happens, Getting an AX400 for $224 total? I'd settle for that...

I mean, I realize I'm lucky enough already - with the AX400 for $275 shipped within one week... But I figure I might as well try for the $50, can't hurt ;)
