Upgraded to windows XP, now can't sync!

I (the last person on earth to do so) upgraded to Windows XP yesterday from Windows ME. (Hey, I didn't fix it until it was broke)
Now, when I tried to sync, I got the message the file 'wceubsh sys' on Windows Active Sync CE is needed. I put the disk in that I got with the Axim, hoping that would do it...no luck.

Can anyone help me with this??

Thanks!

It's on the disk, use explorere to find a fine ending in .inf that will install it for you. I think if you double click on the .inf it will install automatically.

I would agree. A clean install is always the best way to go when you are having issues with software. Uninstall Activsync, download the current version, and then install that. WinXP works very well with ActivSync. Sounds like you just have an old version.

wceusbsh is the driver for the USB port to support PocketPCs. It doesn't get installed with Activesync, so although it is a good idea to update to the latest version of A/S, that won't solve this problem.

Insert the Ax in the cradle and look under Device Manager for a USB port labelled Dell Axim. If it isn't there, the wceusbsh.dll is not installed. Add new hardware and for the driver, point to the .inf file in the root of the CDROM.

Dell also has the USB drivers for the X5 available for download from their site if you cannot get the CD to work.

This Thread was very helpful. I had the same issue after I upgraded to XP. My resolution was simply to upgrade Activesync.
