A Few Questions About Dell Axim X5 - Deal, Movies, eBooks, etc.

Recently I bought an Axim X3 for 95 dollars and sold it quickly for a hundred to a close friend. Then I bought an Axim X5 with USB Cradle for $125 (with $5 to replace the Lithium Battary). Was this a stupid move? To me the reasons for having the Axim X5 include the cheaper CF memory card (with the considerably cheaper Wi-Fi card, which I'll admit, I probably won't use until come September when I get back up to college.) Also an advantage is that the Axim seems much more rugged and capable of taking punishment. I was always afraid of my Axim X3 getting torn apart in my pocket. After having it for just 2 weeks, there was a scratch on the top from me when I passed by a cement wall with it hooked onto my belt clip.

I'll probably need a new card. I recently bought a bunch of memory cards for the Axim X3, which I promptly sold on eBay. Are CF cards going to crash in price? They seem to have more and more rebates on these babies. What's the future of Digital cameras in regards to CF and SD cards. Anybody know? Thanks.

Hmm.... Anything else important for a newbie to know? I read about the USB/External Hard Drive thing and that sounded awesome.

There is no reason for you to buy a new battery unless you just want to. If you want to watch something in full screen, Media Player automatically goes to landscape mode (sideways).

To use MS Reader, you need e-books in the .lit format. To use Adobe, you need the .pdf format, so either way, the readers usually require a specific format to work.

You'd be better off using the AximSite Search, using some specific Key Words, to get many of your answers, though.

That second slot in the Cradle if for a battery. You can charge a second battery in that slot and noticed a little orange light on the right side of the cradle when a battery is plugged into the slot. That little light will turn green when its done as well.

I was going to switch to an X30 but after hearing all the bad stuff about first edition bugs ( not really bad, just annoying) and the fact that I love the feel of my X5 sooooooo much, I think I will keep it. I hardly use the CF slot, but my Ax is worth it to keep.

Also notice that the cradle has stylus holders on both the right and left hand sides of the cradle, just lower than the battery slot. They at first looked like screw holes to me, but some one here point it out that they are actually stylus holders and I have used them ever since for spare styli since I am always loosing them.

I'm also a brandnew X5 user, and I'm using the pda at business with ACT!, as a viewer and a small client-showcase for my pictures and 360° panorama pictures, and I can pop in the CF-card from my Canon 300D. Taking the GPS coordinates for my pictures. Navigating when I'm driving and hiking (OziExplorerCE). MP3 player and ebook reader....
