Ahhh Delayed Ship Date!

Well...at least you guys have the option to ORDER one - pity us poor souls in Asia who STILL don't have that option FIVE MONTHS after the US release date...sob...wail....

Seriously. Why is this region (particularly Australia) always the LAST place on earth to receive technology ? People in Australia still think that VCDs and DVDs are new technology ! They still use video TAPES there, can you believe it. And when (if ?) the Axim ever does get to Oz, I'll bet you my last dollar it costs 30% more than it does in the US. Very expensive you see, shipping things to Oz. Takes 9 months in an old wooden sailing boat, so I hear...even with convict labour !

I looked on the order status page this morning and discovered that my order shipped last night at 9:34:19. It's now "in transit," which apparently means that someone is schlepping it from Dell's facility over to FedEx. Since this is purported to take "1-3 business days" I suppose I might have it tomorrow or early next week (I ordered next-day shipping). I don't know whether my email request, which resulted in assurances that they had "consented to" and were "continuing" my order, had any effect on the delivery schedule or not.

Ah, well, having read others' experiences here and elsewhere, I suppose I should count myself fortunate that it took less than 3 weeks to go from order to shipment.

yay! my axim finally shipped last night! woohoo! =) i guess after all the calls and e-mails. they personally checked and made sure my order would be shipped out as soon as possible.

My axim came today while I was at work and my wife was out. Man, what a rip. I ordered mine online 2/11, including some accessories. Yes, I made the mistake of ordering a foldable keyboard with the computer - wish I'd have found this site a couple of weeks ago!

But, now that I know it's gonna be MINE within a few days, I feel better. I was really gettin' worried, because I got this email 2 days ago:

"We have reviewed your order. Although we had anticipated being able to ship your order sooner, we are experiencing an unexpected delay. We will not be able to ship your order until, on or before 3/12/2003. We apologize for this inconvenience and are doing everything we can to get your order out to you as quickly as possible."

You can imagine the thoughts that raced through my head, but I'll not recount that here. After I'd picked my chin up off my chest, I consoled myself with the knowledge that these shipping delays are due to the success and resulting demand for these little jewels of the PocketPC world.

For those of you still waiting, hang in there. It'll be well worth the wait!
