Ahhh Delayed Ship Date!

noooooo! my axim was supposed to ship tomorrow on the 25th after ordering it on the 10th! and now, i go onto the website for dell and they say my order has been delayed until the 4th! :crooked: ahhhhh! if i made a NEW order on dell for the axim with the $50 rebate, it would also have a preliminary ship date of the 4th... this is ridiculous!!! =/ how come all these people are having these great stories about getting their axims in a few days or at most a week and im stuck waiting a whole month?? *SIGH*

I wanted to let you know that I had a similar experience that didn't end up being that bad. The day before mine was supposed to ship (2/10) it was delayed until 2/17. The next day the website said it was delayed again until 2/24. That night, I got an email from Dell saying it had actually shipped. Sure enough, it was in my hands on 2/12 (I live near a distribution center).

The bottom line is that the Dell order status is typically way out of whack and, in general, tends to add extra padding to estimated ship times. Their internal policy is to "underpromise and overdeliver" when it comes to their estimated ship dates so you might still get your Axim much closer to the original date than any new estimates would suggest.

Good luck. It is a great little device and I found it to be worth the 3+ weeks that I waited for it.

I ordered mine on 2/6 and was given a 2/26 ship date. On 2/17, the ship date on the Dell site for new orders was listed as 2/26. I was furious. So after many calls to Dell over a couple of days, I finally received my Axim on 2/21. I'm not sure that my numerous calls and emails had an effect - but I'm sure it didn't hurt.

I'm in a similar situation. I ordered on 2/9 and got an estimated ship date of 2/24. That date never changed on the order status page, but yesterday I got email saying that they had "reviewed" my order and determined that they couldn't ship until 3/10. As of this morning, the order status page still says "on or before 2/24." I'm hoping that I'll have one of the "good" stories to tell about the actual delay being less than forecast, but who knows when it will actually ship.

this is sort of ridiculous considering i placed an order on the 14th for my brother as well, and his has an estimated shipping date of the 3rd, while my order from the 10th is delayed till the 4th? i started calling my guy yesterday to check and bug and see if they know whats going on. he estimates they might stll be shipping today, but i guess we'll have to see.. wish me luck. hopefully i'll have the thing in my hands by the end of this week. =)

I ordered mine on 2/18 and was given a ship date of 3/3. But it arrived yesterday - just 6 days. I don't understand why some folks are having such ridiculous wait times. I ordered mine under the home user, a friend at work ordered hers under small business. We both got them in 6 days. BTW - I am having a blast with it!

In my case, I'm pretty sure it was because I ordered the folding keyboard on the same order. When I looked at their site yesterday, it appeared that ordering the folding keyboard would add several days to the expected ship date. It would be nice if they gave the option to indicate on the order form that I would accept split shipments. For their regular PCs, I imagine it makes sense to require that the whole system ship together -- a PC without a monitor, for instance, isn't particularly useful. For the Axim, though, it's more likely to be the case that people would like to get the PDA itself sooner, regardless of delays in the accessories.

yes, exactly....a lot of times, the accessories are holding up the shipment. I just wasn't thinking the day I placed my order. I had went to a few sites and found there was a problem with shipping and just didn't put to use my freakin' brain to place another order, perhaps a day later, for the accessories. I talked myself into accepting the fact that I'd have to wait a couple of weeks to get the Axim...but, of course, the wait now looks as if it's going to be another week due to the keyboard. ugh.:rolling:

Maybe Dell is getting their act together.

I ordered my 2nd Ax (400) on 2/17 and UPS tried to deliver it today 2/25.

So, don't despair...they're obviously moving a little faster.

thats obviously great news.. but wouldn't it be logical that somehow who places an order a full week before you should get theres before you? and its not like i live in some obscure location: orange county, california. and the fact that i cant even seem to be able to call and reach them over the phone is making it tough too. *sigh*

Yeah, Leek, seems a really dumb way to handle orders.

I live in MI and I think there's a distribution center in Hodgkins, IL...wherever that is....but Illinois is fairly close to MI. That is the only explanation I can provide. Actually my packing slip said I ordered on the 20th...maybe it was. I wasn't as torqued up because I already have an Ax 300.

I sincerely hope yours (and everyone else's) turns up at your door very soon.

I'm sorry to hear bout everyone's shipping woe's. I too was having problems with Dell. My order date was 02/09 and expeceted ship on 02/24. two days before the ship date i got a notice tellnig me it has been pushed back a week. I immediately called Dell and cancelled my order. I went to Ebay and placed a bid. I ended up getting a brand new axim and it was mailed yesterday and is ready to be picked up at UPS right now. I'm glad I decided to do this. I eneded up getting it faster than when dell could have gotten it to me.

I had originally ordered online on 2/17 and was given a 3/18 ship date, way too long to wait for my new toy. Anyway, called Dell on the 20th to change the order to a high capacity extra battery instead of the normal 1400mah and added a compact flash abd sd card to the order...and ordered it to be shipped overnight, checked for the heck of it on Sunday night after receiving the confirmation emails and low and behold it had shipped on Friday:)
Delivered on 2/24 at 8:30 and have been playing ever since. Seems that certain accessories such as the battery had delayed the original order.
Also, when they re-entered the order, they gave me the 10% off I had on the original AND I got the $50 rebate.
Suggestion to others, just order the AXIM seperately and get the accessories on a seperate order, shipment will happen much sooner.
