Good case for females?

Hello,

I'm awaiting my Axim and in the meantime, would like to purchase a good case. I've done a search for "case" and found a lot of really helpful information on the different types of cases available, but if I'm not mistaken, these forums appear to be male-dominated (sorry if I have offended!). What I would like to know now is if there are any recommendations for a good case for a purse-carrying female.

My needs are:

1. Complete coverage of unit so that things in my purse do not scratch its surface ( I guess this rules out the one from Pocket Solutions, although this one looked quite cool!)

2. Allows easy access to controls, etc. (i.e., I don't want to take my Ax of its case in order to use it.)

3. Small as possible and lightweight, but large enough to hold some memory cards (but not necessarily credit cards)

4. No magnetic closure (just in case...)

5. Not too expensive, but I would like leather if possible (can't afford the Vaja!)

I have narrowed my choice down to the one from Sena, but was wondering if I missed any.

Thanks very much!

Gigi

You know magnet's are funny things, I put my C Card on a Super magnet (used to sell them at the discovery store, till people sued because they would cause injuries (they were that strong lol)) Anyway, it still worked fine after words. But I have had a refrigerator magnet demag my ccard, and it wasn't closer than a foot. I guess it just depends eh.

I got the leather one from Dell with my Axim, I think it was $29. It isn't perfect but is working out pretty well though most of the time I take the Axim out to use it. The thing I like best is that it zips closed (so the Axim is protected), it fits in my purse and weighs less than my cell phone. Good luck finding one that works. It took me two new purses to find the perfect one that works with the Axim. But my daughter is using one of them and she can sell the other one on Ebay.

Take a look at http://www.vajacases.com/pda_eng.htm. If the standard case is not sufficient you can custom build what you want. I have two of their cases and highly recommend them.

I got . . .

the proporta case:

http://www.proporta.com/detail.asp?id=406&Curr=USD

I have two little girls who like to dig through my purse, and rearrange things. With an aluminum case I figure they won't be able to harm the axim.

And I just keep cards in the ax, and don't carry around extras, but if I did need extras I think I would keep them int small pocket of mypurse in the plastic carriers that they come in, or on a trip they would be in my camera bag anyway. . .

I had the dell leather case, and it was bulky, didn't fit right, seem to let the ax slide around quite a bit, and shed black specks!

Guess you can't win 'em all, I am sending the leather back. I think the sena case is a great option as well, but with two little ones, I figured the least exposure as possible was better!

As I have posted elsewhere at this site, I ordered one of the Dell leather cases with my Ax. I like that it zips up snuggly, but that's about it. The padded metal frame that holds the Ax has already loosened up. After getting a credit from Dell, I pre-ordered a Sena this week (still ~$30 'til 2/27, unless they blow the ship date AGAIN and extend it some more). Use my briefcase as a murse and hope that the Sena will let me cram it into rear Levi's pockets on occasion.

Stick with the dell case

I found that I could leave the socket low power wirless card in the aix and still zip it closed. Hey I bought this for my wife!
and she like's the dell case.

I ended up with the Sena case. It had everything I wanted and in the red/camel is fairly feminine looking. I found a bunch by people like Levenger, Coach, Kate Spade etc. but all of them use velcro to hold the case and that's just not an option for me.

Thanks everyone for your input.

For those of you who already own a good PDA case, could you tell me if it's heavy or not?

Thanks,

Gigi
