OH! You're using your PPC browser? I think I know what the problem is. On the page where it displays the direction, you'll see 2 rows of light blue buttons right under where it says in bold "Total Distance"
The first row has 3 buttons, the second row has 2. You'll need to click on the right button in the second row. I guess the images are shrunken down so much that you can't see it. If you use your destop/laptop and go to mapquest then you'll see the image link in its normal size. Anyway, from there you should be fine. Let me know if that works.

I know I am probably making no sense...not the first time and won't be the last, but what I thought I was trying to do was: put in the info in mapquest on my ppc and then click the get directions button. It then says on my next sync I will have my directions...Iassumed on my ppc but I can't find it anywhere...does that make sense what I am trying to say? It is not that big a deal, but has been driving me somewhat crazy...

I also found this problem with my Visor Handspring, but I think it was due to lack of cool features and the dull b/w screen. You just get bored looking at it. Not to mention Palm OS is strictly business oriented. At a price of $155 after rebate for my 300Mhz Axim, I can't wait to get it. I already have a wireless CF card waiting and will love all the new features of this PDA. I got games like Age of Empires ready, and know that there will be buttloads of other things to do as well. Simply can't wait!

Jlong4-
Unfortunately, you'll have to punch in and get the direction first and then click on that button where it says "Download to your PDA" or whatever to have it saved at your next sync.
I don't even let my avantgo sync automatically anymore when I plug it in the cradle. I just go to the connection settings and do it manually. The first time I tried syncing avantgo through activsync it crashed my axim.

I'm a gadget freak but had never seriously considered a PDA until the Axim came out. Got my Calc 98, Calendar+ Listpro & some other stuff. My God, Man! How did I ever do without this thing?? Got everything I need in one tiny unit on my belt with me all the time. Don't have to wonder where that scrap of paper with a note or someone's phone number is, or where in hell I left my calculator just when I need it. Where's my To Do list, Address book, calendar, reminders etc. ? All right there. Plus Avantgo reading material, books, magazines, if I have to wait somewhere for a while. Even play games & such--yeah, right, like I had some time to do that. Anyway, now that I've used it I could never be without it. I completely depend on this thing. Got a friend who is a gun nut and he has put all kinds of ballistic tables in his and takes it to the shooting range with him. The possibilities are endless. Of course if you want to waste your life sitting around watching so-called "Reality" shows or the propaganda shows that pass for news these days, then you probably really don't an AX!

I don't have a wireless CF card being an Axim newbie, so pardon my ignorance but ... you browse at Starbucks when using your router's signal? You live next door to Starbucks and get good reception?

Since I posted that I went to the Starbucks site and saw that they offer wireless high-speed Internet through t-Mobile at certain locations. So, I answered my own question. :-)

The originator of the thread had an interesting dilemna, I believe, one that many people have answered for themselves:
What are you going to use this for?
I always think you need at least decide what the minimum you are going to do with a PDA is. If all you want to do is keep addresess and phone numbers, I have no qualms about directing a person to a Palm Zire: it's what they do best, and nothing else.
If you are willing to experiment and take some chances that there might be something new you can do with your PDA (things I could not do with my Palm Vx: record meetings; practice my voiceover work, show short videos, take PowerPoint slides to a meeting without printing them), then by all means get a Pocket PC. But don't just uy it because you think you should.
Hey, many people think paper and pencil is the only way to go. More power to'em. I'll go electronic!

I dont know about that .. I would still recomend paying the extra for a Pocket PC over a Palm anyday. I can do more with my cellphone than I could with a Zire. :)

My point being....some people DON'T want to do more. Some folks just want to have their contacts and things handy, but that's it. FOr people like that, I don't spend a lot of time regaling them with what a Pocket PC can do, because it is a waste of their time and mine. Don't get me wrong, in the past month I have sold 7 people on Axims.....but sometimes I have to climb down from my geek high horse and see what the people want

I was driving yesterday and wanted to stop by a person's house to pick up something I bought on Ebay. I called the guy up and used the voice recorder to record the direction as he was telling me over the phone. I didn't have to look down to write it.. how cool is that? I am finding more and more uses for this thing every day. Oh yeah.. my wife thinks the stylus is the best scratching tool ever... gross I know but it's funny nonetheless.
